Disneyland Resort has unexpectedly blocked off a large guest parking area in one of its most popular garages. Here’s what we know.

Guests driving to the Southern California Disney parks have several options. The Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals Parking Structures offer several floors of parking within walking distance (or a short tram ride) from Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney District. A few miles down the road is the Toy Story Parking Area, a large lot with free shuttles to Disneyland Resort.

At all locations, parking costs $35 per car or motorcycle. Only the Toy Story Parking Area accepts oversized vehicles and motor homes, which cost $45 with a trailer and $40 without. Preferred parking is available at all three parking areas for $55 per vehicle, subject to availability.

However, Disneyland Resort guests arriving by car will now have a slightly different experience. On Tuesday, WDWNT reported that construction walls are now blocking several sections of the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure.

The temporary walls, covered with scrim to block whatever is going on inside, surround a large section of the top floor of the parking garage. Disney cast members are reportedly directing guest vehicles the “wrong” way down the row closest to the walls, instructing them to drive in the opposite direction of the arrows painted on the ground.

In April, a car fire engulfed part of the Pixar Pals Parking Structure, causing Disneyland Resort to block off the affected area. However, the walls in the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure are almost certainly unrelated to that blaze.

Disneyland Resort hasn’t shared any information about a project on the roof of the Mickey & Friends parking structure, but it could be routine maintenance. It’s unclear when the construction walls will come down.
