The popular Magic Kingdom location has altered its closure period, surprising guests at the Disney World park.

Magic Kingdom has many fan-favorite attractions themed after beloved Intellectual Property (IP). There are family-friendly rides based on Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland, coasters themed after the Tron franchise and 2009’s animated movie The Princess and the Frog, and multiple original attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Pirates of the Caribbean.
While Disney fans often yearn for original stories brought to life, there is a magnetism in bringing beloved characters from the Disney canon into the real world. Earlier this month, Disney World guests lost access to one of these classic attractions as Under the Sea–Journey of The Little Mermaid was closed down for refurbishment.

Originally planned to take place from July 21 through July 25 and reopening on July 26, the attraction reportedly surprised guests by opening late last night, July 25, 2025.
“Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid at Magic Kingdom appears to have reopened ahead of its scheduled July [26] return,” WDWMagic wrote. “As of 7 p.m. on July 25, the attraction is listed with posted wait times in the My Disney Experience app, indicating that it is available to guests.”

Under the Sea–Journey of The Little Mermaid is on the theme park schedule for 26 July, 2025, with operating times of 8:30 a.m. through 9 a.m. for eligible Early Theme Park Entry guests, and from 9 a.m. through 11 p.m. for the normal day.
Guests staying at Magic Kingdom until 11 p.m. will be able to catch the all-new Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away Parade, which plays twice nightly in the flagship theme park at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. The return of a nighttime parade has been on many guests’ most-wanted lists for a while, and now they can get a taste of the old days through this new entertainment.
