The State of Florida is launching an investigation into transgender influencer Lilly Tino’s content after they recorded themselves inside a Walt Disney World bathroom. Florida Attorney General James Uthmier confirmed the investigation in a video from right-wing content creator Benny Johnson.

The post the video was shared in claims Tino faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine under criminal code § 810.145. However, while the legal concern revolves around unauthorized recordings of strangers in the bathroom, Uthmier focuses on Tino’s gender identity, pushing the longstanding Republican talking point of men entering women’s bathrooms.

“We’re investigating this. We do not tolerate men or boys in women ‘s restrooms, gyms, private spaces,” said Uthmier. “No tolerance,” he continued. Uthmier claimed investigations have already taken place in Florida at places like gyms and locker rooms.

Lilly Tino has long been a divisive figure on social media. Tino’s notoriety grew thanks to their divisive and controversial content, which historically has revolved around people misgendering them. Many have labeled Tino a “rage baiter,” insinuating that their content is designed to be controversial, frustrating, and comment-inducing on purpose.

However, Tino’s latest venture into Walt Disney World may have landed her in serious legal trouble. The video in question was shared earlier in June, showing Tino attempting to rank every woman’s bathroom at the resort. The topic, while novel, is something many influencers, bloggers, and even writers here at Inside the Magic have covered in the past, though it’s what Tino included in the video that has caused trouble.

While filming, Tino captured the faces and bodies of multiple other guests. These clips were then shared with Tino’s 400K+ audience on TikTok and other social media channels. This prompted an online petition demanding that Disney ban Tino from the parks.

Tino’s response essentially put the blame back on other people, claiming the controversy was rooted in transphobia.

Walt Disney World has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
