With Muppet Vision 3D and Muppet Courtyard closed and construction fences up, Disney revealed the size and scope of its new Monsters, Inc. Land Door Coaster, and it’s going to be massive.

According to new documents from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the new Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster will be located a little further back in the new land, allowing it to overtake a portion of the cast member parking area at Hollywood Studios. The new coaster will take just about 10 acres from the parking area.
This will make the new coaster absolutely massive. The Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster building will be over 103,000 square feet, making it the largest building at Hollywood Studios and overtaking Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which is only 92,000 square feet.

The new building’s size will make it the second-largest attraction on Disney World property, behind only Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. Beyond its size, the new ride will be Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster.
Disney closed the beloved Muppet Vision 3D earlier this month to make way for the new Monsters, Inc. Land, which was announced at last year’s D23 Expo. Work just began on the new land, and most experts don’t expect it to be completed until 2027 or 2028.

Muppets fans need not fear, as the Jim Henson creations will be heading just across Hollywood Studios. Disney announced that the Muppets will replace Aerosmith at the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. However, that transition won’t occur until 2026, with the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster staying open for the remainder of this year.
In addition to the door coaster, Disney has announced that a new restaurant, stores, and a theater show will be included in the new land at Hollywood Studios. With the new land at Hollywood Studios, it’s unclear what will become of Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom. It could potentially move to the new land or remain at Magic Kingdom.

So, as the renovations start at Hollywood Studios, we now know just how large the new Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster will be, and if size indicates quality, it will be great.
