Several Key Disney World Rides and Attractions To Be Closed Next Month

Walt Disney World is home to dozens upon dozens of rides and attractions, so many, in fact, that it can be quite a challenge to do them all on one single trip. This is why many flock to “The Happiest Place on Earth” multiple times a year, though doing everything then can still prove difficult.

This is why it’s crucial that guests are aware of what rides are open and, more importantly, what rides are closed, with several attractions set to be offline this April.

Below is a list of everything set to be closed next month in Walt Disney World.

Magic Kingdom

• Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
• Hall of Presidents
• Astro Orbiter

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed back in January for its extensive refurbishment. This project will see the iconic western-themed roller coaster receive a new track, as well as various updates and upgrades throughout the entire attraction. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad does not yet have an official reopening date but will remain closed throughout 2025.

The Hall of Presidents closed back in January, though, for entirely different reasons. Disney gives the Hall of Presidents a makeover for each new administration, with the last new animatronic figure being Joe Biden. However, with Trump back in the office, it’s unclear how Disney will handle this change, with the attraction already having its own Donald Trump animatronic figure.

Astro Orbiter likely does not rank high on guests’ list of rides at the Magic Kingdom, but the space-themed flight attraction is still fun, especially for fans of Tomorrowland. The ride is currently closed and is expected to reopen sometime this summer.

EPCOT

Test Track is the only ride set to be closed this April at EPCOT, though the attraction has been offline since last June. Last year, Disney announced it would be reimagining Test Track once again, confirming that the thrill ride would close forever in its current form that summer.

In the months since, guests have watched as most traces of Test Track 2.0 have been wiped away, with Disney now working on creating a bold new version of the classic attraction. Test Track was already reimagined once in 2012, reopening under the same name albeit with an entirely different aesthetic, one that remained controversial and divisive throughout its lifetime.

It’s unclear what Disney has in store for Test Track 3.0, but the thrill ride is set to reopen sometime this year.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

While there are many exciting projects on the horizon for Disney’s Hollywood studios, the park actually does not yet have any rides or attractions marked for closure this April, making it a great park for guests to visit if they have a trip coming up.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to many of Walt Disney World’s more thrilling rides, like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Slinky Dog Dash, as well as Disney’s immersive Star Wars-inspired land, Galaxy’s Edge.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom also does not have any rides or attractions slated for closure in April, though this doesn’t mean that the park isn’t missing key experiences. Back in January, half of the park’s DinoLand U.S.A. area closed forever, including TriceraTop Spin, a kid-friendly spinner ride similar to Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

The rest of DinoLand will remain open throughout 2025, with both the land and its “E-ticket” attraction, DINOSAUR, closing permanently in early 2026.

This is all being done to make way for a new South America-inspired land that will take over the footprint of DinoLand U.S.A.  This new land will feature several new rides and attractions, one of which will be themed to Disney’s Encanto. Another new attraction will be based on Indiana Jones.
