In 2022, Disney launched the fifth ship in its cruise line, the Disney Wish. The gorgeous ship is more than 340 meters long and has so many amazing things for guests to enjoy while on board. Younger travelers can head into the Marvel Superhero Academy, while adults can head to exclusive spots like the Hyperspace Lounge. And we can’t forget to mention Disney’s first-ever attraction at sea, The AquaMouse!
The ship is one of the most gorgeous ones Disney has ever created, but they keep upping their game, so who knows what the future has in store for Disney Cruise Line.

Because this is a Disney cruise ship, there is no lack of places to shop. And while there are a number of affordable items for sale, sometimes guests want to splurge and really treat themselves to something special.
Unfortunately, for one guest, their big purchase ended up being a major disappointment, and now many people are telling the devastated and angry guest that they got scammed.

Reddit user loveholic012 went on a cruise on the Disney Wish two years ago, not long after it began sailing. While on the ship, they spent more than $2,000 on a gorgeous Minnie Mouse necklace. They were told that part of the necklace was made with onyx, a gemstone. However, now her necklace appears to be peeling, and she is discovering she might have been lied to.
Purchased this necklace on the Wish 2 years ago and wore it on and off until about 2 months ago where I’ve been wearing it everyday and I noticed today that the black was coming off from the Minnie ears. I was told the black was onyx but it actually looks like paste? It was shiny like onyx before but now it looks matte so I’m guessing the coating came off.

Unfortunately, the commenters only seemed to support the belief that she was lied to and taken advantage of.
According to the receipt shared by OP (Original Poster), she purchased the necklace from Diamonds International, which has a location onboard the Disney Wish. Multiple commenters were aware of Diamonds International and said that Disney should never have made a deal with the company, because they are known to scam customers.
They are corrupt and DCL knows it. Send complaints!!

Many who commented on the post also said that it is a mistake to buy jewelry while onboard a cruise ship. Several people shared their own stories about buying what they thought was quality jewelry, only to have it fall apart in a short amount of time.
I purchased two Pandora rings on the Wish and both broke within a week of getting off the ship. I couldn’t return them to a regular Pandora store because I didn’t have a Pandora receipt. It took months of back and forth with customer service where they had me send them the rings and I got a gift card for what I paid for them onboard. So even Pandora isn’t a safe bet.

Those who commented on the post are not the only ones who believe Diamonds International is a scam. There are multiple social media posts telling other people to be aware. Multiple complaints have also been made against the company to the Better Business Bureau.
Sadly, it does not appear that the OP can do much about the necklace, except contact Disney. But there is no guarantee that Disney can help her, considering the age of the necklace and the fact that it was purchased from another company. However, there were some who were hopeful that something could be done, since it was a Disney ship and Disney had a deal with Diamonds International.
