Walt Disney World Resort fans recently discussed EPCOT‘s abandoned Wonders of Life Pavilion online, with some insiders revealing the building’s fate in the seven years since it has opened to Disney Park guests.

EPCOT guests can still spot the Wonders of Life Pavilion in the World Discovery neighborhood closest to Mission: SPACE and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The building opened in 1989 and was home to attractions like Body Wars and Cranium Command. Although the pavilion officially closed in 2007, Walt Disney World Resort repurposed the building as EPCOT‘s Festival Center until 2018.

The Wonders of Life Pavilion was set to be transformed into the Play! Pavilion in 2021 as part of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. However, like many EPCOT projects that fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project is currently frozen.

According to insiders, it’s increasingly unlikely that Walt Disney World Resort will ever repurpose the Wonders of Life Pavilion. After Redditor u/ElectricalState258 asked about the state of the building, current and former Disney cast members revealed that it was now too hazardous to even use for storage.

“Anyone know what is stored in the old wonders of life building at EPCOT?” the Disney Parks fan asked. “I am super curious, and would love to know if any CM’s have any insiders as to what’s stored in there or why it’s not being used.”

“Never say never but that pavilion will never re-open,” u/sparty219 replied. “It’s been gutted and the roof has been leaking. If Disney didn’t deal with it during the re-imagining of Epcot over the past few years, it’s not on the horizon that anything will happen with it. Not even worth tearing down since Disney has no intention of using the space for something else.”

“I was in there 2 years ago and they weren’t storing anything, I was told it’s not being used because they’ve attempted to fix the roof numerous times and It continues to leak,” u/1clockworkechoed. “I’m surprised it hasn’t been demolished for a new attraction.”

Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t commented publicly on the condition of the Wonders of Life Pavilion.
