A mishap at Disneyland Paris Resort ruined the magic for some Disney Park guests as two Disney character performers appeared within feet of each other while wearing the same costume.
Being a Disney character performer might sound like fun and games, but it’s one of the most demanding roles at the Disney parks. The Walt Disney Company forces entertainment cast members to undergo strict training to protect its intellectual property. “Character integrity” rules restrict what performers can say and do while portraying Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Mickey Mouse.

One of the first rules of “character integrity” is simple: never allow Disney Park guests to see two of the same characters in one place. After all, there’s only one of every Disney character. If your favorite Disney Princess waves at you in a parade, you shouldn’t walk a few feet down Main Street, U.S.A., and spot her on the castle stage!
Of course, mistakes happen–even in the Happiest and most Magical places in the world. Instagram user @aristokats_life recently shared a video of two Goofys in one area at Disneyland Paris.

In the video, Goofy’s hat and shoes were visible above and below a backstage gate. The Disney Park guest turned the camera to show Goofy greeting guests just feet away from where his body double was waiting.
It’s normal for Disney character performers to swap out for breaks during meet-and-greets. However, Disney cast members are trained to tell guests that the characters are just checking on something backstage or grabbing a snack: “Goofy needs to check on Max, and he’ll be right back!” …That’s hard to do when Goofy’s backup is clearly lurking around the corner!

Some Disney Parks fans were upset at the guest for posting the video.
“Poor taste to post this,” @eric.mouse commented.
Still, others played along with the Disney magic.

“He teleported,” @zzkoty wrote.
“I just see a tall person in the same hat,” said @tierneyaaleyah.
