Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is temporarily closed due to the chilly weather sweeping through Central Florida. The park has shut its doors for two days, January 20 and 21, 2025, with plans to reopen on January 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, with forecasts predicting continued low temperatures and rain throughout the week, the closure could be extended further.

The cold snap has brought highs in the mid-50s and lows dipping into the 40s, with gusty winds and rain adding to the wintry mix. This isn’t the first time Blizzard Beach has had to adjust its schedule for weather-related reasons, having recently closed for three days due to similar conditions.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Lagoon remains closed for its regular seasonal refurbishment, and Universal’s Volcano Bay has also been affected by the cold, remaining shut down through at least January 23.

Cold weather isn’t just a minor inconvenience at Disney World—it can significantly impact the guest experience. Water-based attractions like Blizzard Beach are especially vulnerable, as lower temperatures make it less comfortable for guests to enjoy the slides and pools.
Even outside of water parks, cooler weather can affect outdoor rides and shows, with some attractions pausing operations if temperatures drop too low. Guests might also find themselves bundling up for evening fireworks or opting for indoor experiences to stay warm.
While chilly days at Disney World are rare, they do happen, and when they do, they bring a unique atmosphere to the parks. Walking down Main Street, U.S.A., with a hot cocoa in hand feels quite different when temperatures are cool, and it’s not unusual to see guests in winter coats and Mickey ear beanies.
Some guests even prefer these colder days, as they can bring lower crowd levels and a festive vibe, especially during the winter months.

For those visiting Disney World during colder weather, it’s important to plan accordingly. Layering clothing, taking breaks indoors, and checking park schedules for any adjustments can help ensure a smooth visit.
While Blizzard Beach may be closed for now, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the parks—even if it means trading a swim for a stroll around World Showcase or a thrilling indoor ride at Hollywood Studios.
