New: More Warnings Issued as Disney World Closes Park

Central Florida, known for its sunny skies and mild winters, is in for a frosty surprise. New weather warnings signal an arctic chill sweeping through Orlando, sending temperatures plunging and forcing unexpected closures at fan-favorite destinations like Walt Disney World Resort.

This week, as Elsa’s icy anthem feels more relatable than ever, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will shut its gates on Tuesday, December 3, and Wednesday, December 4. Guests can look forward to its reopening at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 5. The closure aligns with freeze warnings as an “arctic air blast” chills the Sunshine State to its core, as reported by Click Orlando.

“From Tuesday to Wednesday, a major weather system will move across the Southeast U.S., pushing even more cold air into the area,” Click Orlando stated. Temperatures are expected to nosedive to the mid-30s to low 40s, bringing frost and wind chills that’ll have even Florida locals bundling up.

Sunny skies won’t save the day either, as brisk winds keep the region cold and crisp. Adding to the mix, the dry, breezy weather elevates fire risks. “Under these parameters, any little spark could start and spread a fire quickly,” warns the forecast.

Blizzard Beach isn’t alone in its temporary hibernation. Universal Orlando Resort’s Volcano Bay Water Park is also halting operations, staying closed through Thursday, December 5, with plans to reopen at 10 a.m. on Friday.

This year, Floridians have endured a barrage of extreme weather, from back-to-back hurricanes to sudden cold snaps. Just weeks ago, Hurricanes Helene and Milton wreaked havoc across the state, forcing closures at both Disney and Universal Resorts. While Orlando’s theme parks are built to handle the occasional rainstorm, these back-to-back disruptions are a stark reminder of Florida’s unpredictable climate.

For now, visitors are encouraged to layer up and plan accordingly.
