The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Central Florida, is facing yet another closure this week. Here’s the latest.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or so they say, and many diehard Disney fans will be spending it at the House of Mouse’s flagship resort in the Sunshine State. After a busy Thanksgiving period that saw record sellouts of the resort’s many Lightning Lane offerings, the hectic Christmas and New Year week is fast approaching.
Walt Disney World Resort is notoriously crowded during the holidays, with guests flocking to Magic Kingdom Park for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or even to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Jollywood Nights. Despite the cooler temperatures, many seek the festive magic that envelopes the parks at this time of year.
There is one downside to visiting the resort in the winter months. The cold may not bother Elsa, but it can bother regular humans on their Disney vacations. Following a six-day shutdown last week, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will once again close tomorrow, Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Per the official Blizzard Beach website, no times are available for December 12, with the park set to reopen on Friday, December 13, 2024. However, today, Wednesday, December 11, normal operating hours are in effect, meaning guests can enjoy attractions like Summit Plummet and Tike’s Peak from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.
The closure comes as Central Florida is hit by yet another cold front, one that was hinted at approaching last week. “Behind the front, a cold airmass will settle in early Thursday morning, bringing temperatures down into the low to mid-40s across most of the area,” Click Orlando explained.

“Some of the colder spots will be north and west of I-4,” the report continued. “Although winds will die down overnight, there will be enough of a breeze to bring wind chill values into the 30s across most of the area.”
Click Orlando notes that while winds will prevent frost, there is a chance of it in more sheltered areas. They explain that wind gusts could reach up to 20 miles per hour moving into Thursday afternoon. No wonder Disney has decided to shutter Blizzard Beach!
