Walt Disney World Resort guests were subject to an unusual ride breakdown last week as the Central Florida Disney park closed one of its Toy Story (1995) attractions and lined guests up against a wall. Affected guests were compensated with Lightning Lane passes.

Toy Story Mania! is the oldest attraction in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The 4-D interactive ride opened in 2008, predating the theme park‘s Pixar land. Its original entrance was in the Pixar Place area, but Walt Disney Imagineers rerouted the queue and loading area to move it to Toy Story Land in 2018.

On November 28, 2024, a Walt Disney World Resort guest reported a bizarre incident on Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Redditor u/hitmanrocks01 shared that their family was on the attraction around 8:30 p.m. when it suddenly stopped.

“Ride was stopped for about 20 minutes,” the Disney Parks fan explained.

Disney cast members reportedly walked through the closed attraction, unlocked the ride vehicles, and “had people line up on the walls.”

“My kids heard some kid crying and then they were given fast passes,” the Disney Parks fan continued.

It’s unclear what happened on Toy Story Mania! on November 28 and whether the crying child was related to the breakdown. However, it’s not uncommon for Disney cast members to have guests line up along a wall during ride evacuations.

This process confines theme park guests to one safe area while others climb out of their vehicles, protecting them from injuries from tracks or other mechanical ride elements.

While Walt Disney World Resort rarely reveals the reasoning behind ride closures, the Central Florida Disney park’s original Toy Story attraction wasn’t down for long. The ride reopened soon after this evacuation and was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.
