If you think you’ve had a bad meal at Disney before, think again – one guest was recently served mold.
Some people are at Disney for the rides, some people are there for the characters, but some people (cough, us) are there for the food. Disney’s theme parks have seriously upped their culinary skills in recent years, with standout dishes at each of its resorts worldwide.
At least, most of the resorts.
Every diehard Disney parkgoer knows that Disneyland Paris—despite being located in one of the biggest food capitals in the world—is a bit of a letdown on the food front. Not only does the park barely keep its quick-service restaurants open for the entire working day (one restaurant, Victoria’s, is only open for five hours a day currently), but there’s also a serious lack of food options resort-wide.
At its hotels, for example, there are currently no quick-service restaurants along the lines of the canteens at All-Star Resorts at Walt Disney World. Disney Village is mostly under construction, and the restaurants that are open in the park are often criticized for their poor quality (even when some restaurants charge as much as $100 per head for the pleasure).
Even at Disneyland Paris, guests naturally expect fresh, high-quality food. Unfortunately, that was not the case for one visitor this week, who claims to have been served moldy food while dining at the resort.
The guest in question shared a picture of moldy bread on Reddit, captioned, “Mouldy bread from the Steakhouse today.”

The Steakhouse is one of the few restaurants in operation at Disney Village right now. It’s one of the pricier eateries on property, inspired by 1950s Chicago and charging up to €44 (USD $46) per steak.
Fortunately, the guests avoided consuming the mold, but their overall assessment of the restaurant was far from positive. They described it as “overpriced and genuinely poor.” They also noted that their servers didn’t apologize but instead just replaced the bread.
Other users chimed in with equally poor impressions of the resort’s dining. As one put it, “That steak house is the worst restaurant I’ve eaten at anywhere in the world.”
Another wrote, “I didn’t have any positive food experiences during my stay last year. I was served a Mickey doughnut still frozen in the middle. And it astounds me that for a theme park in France they can’t provide fresh croissants or freshly made crepes … Disney sells itself as a high quality experience but they cheap out on food and rip you off.”
Disneyland Paris is in a transformative period right now. Walt Disney Studios Park (often dubbed Disney’s worst theme park) is currently a mass of construction walls as it prepares to welcome World of Frozen, a Tangled (2010) ride, an area inspired by The Lion King (1994), and a brand-new entrance land—World Premiere—which the resort today revealed will debut in spring.
The park (which is receiving a new name, Disney Adventure World) will also welcome a new restaurant, The Hollywood Garden Restaurant. Here’s hoping it’s a step up from The Steakhouse.
