Disney knows how to do a lot of things incredibly well, and one of the things they do best is creating fun, stunning, and memorable parades. And, in 2015, they created one of their most popular parades today — Disney’s Paint the Night Parade — to celebrate the Resort’s 60th Anniversary. Paint the Night premiered at Disneyland Park and drew crowds every single night.
The parade featured dazzling lights, an incredible song, and some of our favorite Disney characters, including Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, characters from Toy Story (1995), The Little Mermaid (1989), and more.
Eventually, Paint the Night was moved over to Disney California Adventure Park, and a couple of elements were removed, but it was still loved by fans. Sadly, in 2018, Disney announced that the parade would be ending. Fans were devastated, but hoped that one day the beloved parade would return.

It has been six years since we last saw the gorgeous lights and danced along with Owl City’s “When Can We Do This Again.” However, on October 11, Disney shared a video across its social media platforms that had fans freaking out.
The video showed Mack from Disney/Pixar’s 2006 movie Cars being lit up, then the iconic song began to play. Mack led the Paint the Night Parade throughout Disneyland and DCA. The tagline read, “When can we do this again”.
After such a long time, Disney was finally teasing the return that fans have been begging for.

The video quickly went viral, and fans were thrilled to learn that their favorite parade was finally returning. Comments quickly flooded every video posted by Disney.
DONT PLAY WITH ME WHEN THIS IS MY FAVORITE PARADE 😭💕💕💕💕
IS THIS COMING BACK?? Please tell me this parade is coming back!!!!
AH! i always wanted to see paint the night! immediately planning trip when dates are announced
STOP IT DONT MESS WITH MY EMOTIONS
DISNEY DONT PLAY WITH MY HEART LIKE THIS

There were also a fair amount of comments from people who might not have been familiar with Paint the Night. The parade was never shown at the Walt Disney World Resort, so some commenters took the video to mean that Disney was teasing a Cars 4 movie. Neither Disney nor Pixar has confirmed a fourth Cars film, but the franchise has been so successful that it wouldn’t be surprising if one was announced in the future.
We do not yet know when Paint the Night will return to Disneyland Resort, but it most likely will not be until 2025. While we wait, you can enjoy watching the parade by watching the video below.
Now, put your hands up, ’cause the night is young!
Disney is currently in the middle of its Halloween season, and that will quickly be followed by the holiday season when the Christmas Fantasy Parade will be shown daily.
Paint the Night was not strictly a Disneyland Resort parade. It premiered at Hong Kong Disneyland one year before Disneyland, and fans over there loved it as much as guests visiting Disneyland did.
Inside the Magic will keep readers updated as we learn more about Paint the Night’s return to Disneyland Resort!
