It’s been a tough couple of weeks for fans of the Muppets at Disney World. It started shortly after the D23 Expo when fans started rumors about the possibility that MuppetVision 3D may be replaced by the new Monsters, Inc. Land.

Disney has neither confirmed nor denied that MuppetVision 3D may be on the chopping block at Hollywood Studios. In the meantime, fans have rallied their support for the only Muppets attraction at Walt Disney World.

But Disney fans everywhere were given a second chance to spend some quality time with the Muppets. At this year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, the Muppet Lab photo op would allow guests to enter the world of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker.

The Muppet Lab opened in the Odyssey Pavillion along with the Brew Wing. The Odyssey Pavillion sits between World Showcase and World Discovery.

The photo op allowed guests into the lab with a decorative table that included several props and Easter eggs from Muppets past. However, the Muppets lab photo op is no longer.

After less than three days, some guests allowed their children to pull the set pieces off the table, ruining the Muppets lab photo op. According to some social media reports, all of the set pieces were glued to the table, and kids were allowed to pull the pieces off the table, and most of them ended up broken.

According to another report, some kids were “throwing the set pieces around” while their parents “stood by and watched.” Even the signs were pulled off the table and thrown on the floor.

Shortly after the Muppets lab photo op was destroyed, Disney removed the entire set. The Brew Wing lab and a Muppets gift area remain in the Odyssey Pavilion, but little else that would give guests the ability to interact with the beloved characters.

One guest responded on X by saying:

I know everyone’s already saying it. But this is certainly a contributing factor to when people complain about the supposed downgrade of imagineering. See the queue for Runaway Railway at DL as well. Why spend the time money on something only for it to get destroyed and removed.

EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival will continue through November 23, when Christmas will take over the theme park. However, the festival will continue without guests getting the opportunity to interact with the Muppets, and doesn’t that just make everyone a little less happy?
