There are many ways guests can navigate the Disney theme parks, though the Monorail is perhaps the most popular and iconic of them all, with both Disneyland and Disney World resorts, as well as Tokyo Disney featuring their own versions of the speedy train service.

However, after multiple decades, one Monorail service type has ended at Tokyo Disney, with the resort permanently suspending its Resort Line Type X.

This closure happened this weekend and marks a new chapter for the Tokyo Disney Resort as a whole, with fans showing their love and appreciation for the Type X Resort Line on its final day of operation.

The Tokyo Disney Resort has several different train cars, with the Tokyo Disney Resort Type X Line providing transportation between JR Maihama Station and several other destinations.

The Resort Line opened to travelers in July 2001, just a few months before Tokyo DisneySea’s opening day. For over twenty years, guests have been able to use the Type X Resort Liner to navigate the Tokyo Disney Resort and surrounding areas.

The Type X car was permanently suspended on September 1, 2024. The Monorail Service’s last day was filled with excitement and sadness, and a few cast members reportedly got a little teary-eyed.

While owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company, the Tokyo Disney Resort still features dozens of classic Disney theme park experiences. Both the resort’s theme parks, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea are filled with legendary rides and attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Manson “it’s a small world,” and, up until recently, Space Mountain.

However, Tokyo Disney is also famous for its unique offerings, such as the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast and Journey to the Center of the Earth, which are only available at Japanese resort.
