With Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man/Tony Stark and Chris Evans’ Captain America/Steve Rogers stepping down, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has entered a new chapter known as the Multiverse Saga.
Despite concerns over “superhero fatigue” and the departure of Jonathan Majors, who previously portrayed Kang the Conqueror, Marvel President Kevin Feige seems to be contemplating a shift from the Multiverse Saga to a new “Mutant Saga” featuring X-Men characters, Avengers 5 (formerly titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty) is currently in development, albeit on a smaller scale than previous installments.
The 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios) X-Men universe has been officially grandfathered into the MCU.
At Super Bowl LVIII, Marvel Studios, along with Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool/Wade Wilson) and his “frenemy” Hugh Jackman (Wolverine/Logan), announced that the highly anticipated third installment of the Deadpool series, originally titled Deadpool 3, would be reimagined as Deadpool & Wolverine, under director Shawn Levy, and begin this transition.
As a result, it seems that Marvel Studios has had to cut several X-Men from debuting in the newly canonized line-up. The latest report indicates that one of the most iconic X-Men stars was cut from the film (and a possible MCU future) altogether.

A new report from the anonymous insider Cryptic HD Quality on Twitter/X has surfaced, indicating that Professor Charles Xavier/Professor X (portrayed by both Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy in different timelines of the Fox X-Men universe) was originally meant to be part of the new MCU storyline — something already much-rumored.
The post revealed that in this summer’s billion-dollar Marvel hit Deadpool & Wolverine, the villain Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) was initially meant to have a difficult relationship with her twin brother, Charles Xavier, who would have originally been the person Cassandra Nova believed put her into the Void.
Instead, reshoots for the third Deadpool movie changed this, retconning the real culprits to be a branch of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) from Disney+ (Disney Plus) series Loki (2021), who trapped Professor X’s evil twin in the Void at the “End of Time”. Cryptic HD Quality shares that Disney originally planned a confrontation with Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) to reveal this to Corrin’s Cassandra Nova:
Originally, Cassandra thought that her brother, Charles Xavier, was the one who put her in the Void. When she confronts Paradox, she finds out it was actually the TVA. Reshoots changed this.
