I’m pretty sure the guy complaining would hang the stars and bars before actually trying to help a POC.

    1. Aunt Polly

Keen observation. I’m willing to bet that if Disney decided to tweak Peter Pan’s Flight to make it seem more “patriotic” somehow – like switching out the skull and crossbones flag for an American flag – the complaints about “woke changes” would suddenly fade away, historical inaccuracy be damned.

      1. Gary

Are you sure or are you part of Woke ?

        1. Ed

It’s a theme park not a museum. Get over it.

        2. Aunt Polly

Are you sure you know what Woke means, Gary? I’d love to hear you explain it.

      2. Lorenzo

        Nice try Aunt Polly.

It would be the same reaction.

And by the sound of your name….looks like the woke machine is going to take away an island that has your name right on it.

        How does it taste?

        1. Ed

          1. sam

it’s a theme park featuring a ride based on a movie. I enjoyed being immersed in the movie, not being reminded how easily offended some people have become.

          2. Stve

Wrong. It IS a museum and when I take over and make it great again by keeping it stuck in the 20th century, it will also be a private members-only club much like the Augusta National Golf Club (home of The Masters), the All England Club (home of Wimbledon), or the Downtown Athletic Club at 20 West St. in Lower Manhattan (home of the Heisman Trophy).

        2. Aunt Polly

Tastes perfectly fine, TBH, Lorenzo. The island had a good run, but it’s long overdue for change. I’ll miss certain parts of it, like the relaxing rocking chairs at the dockside inn that bears my name – I had a lovely nap there once – but I’ll get over it.

    2. Lorenzo

Please list the times you helped a “POC”?

And changing this scene does what for “POC”?

      Just simple questions….I will wait.

      1. Dawn Keibals

Do you want to see receipts of supporting minority owned businesses? Charitable donations to organizations that support their community? Meeting minutes from my job on how we can work with the indigenous population in North America to improve land, air, and water quality.

This allows them to be better represented.

Can you explain your problem with the change and how it impacts you?

        1. Lorenzo

All of the things you listed would be a good start…but please show me the results of these endeavors besides you boasting about them to your non-POC colleagues.

The change was a waste of time and money and I guarantee not one POC complained about this. This is the result of an overly virtuous company trying to stay ahead of the curve ball. Nothing more…nothing less.

And now that the scene is changed…I can see all of the world’s problems are solved! WE ARE SAVED!!!

          1. Aunt Polly

You’re asking Dawn to do a lot of homework for you, so please reciprocate and show us proof of your guarantee that not one POC complained about this. If you can guarantee it, then you can prove it. We’ll wait.

Maybe it’s just me, but I always thought Tiger Lily and Peter Pan were friend that could depend on each other, regardless of cultural differences. That’s very honorable. All this PC garbage removes the soul of the rides!

  3. walt

Dawn and aunt polly are busy clutching their pearls and making ridiculous comments about a CARTOON. These woke idiots destroy everything. Song of the South IS not out of date and Disney is not responding to woke – it is the woke LEADER. Bob IGER worships woke culture – (Chapik took heat because he was LESS woke). So while dawn and aunt polly are busy burning the books they think are problematic and peeing on the American flag – I’ll be saving my money by passing on Disney. Perhaps Aunt Polly and Dawn should go live in Europe where all the limp wristed woke liberals reside. I hear the chief of police in London needs help.

    1. Aunt Polly

Or, better yet, perhaps we’ll both stick around and continue enjoying our First Amendment rights in ways that tick you off, Walt. Just because we can.

      1. Capt. Randall

You do NOT have first amendment rights. Not all are created equal.

        1. Aunt Polly

I have the VERY first amendment rights ever created. They’re on display in a 2nd amendment-proof glass case. Not all display cases are created equal.

          1. Gary

Your that old, you should be in the ground pushing up daisy’s !

          2. Aunt Polly

Pushing up Daisy’s WHAT? Would it upset Donald if he saw?

      2. Dawn Keibals

I’m here now and having the bed time. Road Peter Pan 3 times. The change didn’t impact my level of enjoyment at all

        1. Dawn Keibals

          *Best time

  4. Mary

It is all ridiculous. Go back and leave it alone. People have gotten out of hand. Nothing will ever please the masses so don’t mess with it.

  5. Jan

This is ridiculous. People need to stop giving in to people that are “offended” by almost everything. History happened, dislike it, disagree with it, study it and move on. You cannot change history but you can learn from it and not repeat it. If you wipe it from the books, future generations cannot learn from it. The many need to stop giving into the few who are offended. Stand up, we have rights too

    1. Kat

      Agree!

    2. Lorenzo

      No one was offended…..
This is the result of an overly virtuous company trying to stay ahead of the curve ball. Nothing more…nothing less.

      1. Aunt Polly

You still haven’t explained how this change impacts you directly. You mentioned elsewhere that it was a waste of time and money. Was it YOUR time and money that was used? If not, then explain and be as thorough as possible. Also, how would a first-timer know that any change had taken place on this ride? Explain that as well. If a significant number of people were bothered by this, then share some statistics and be sure to cite your source.

  6. Jim

Disney should not be changing all this stuff for the so called woke agenda. These are part of history and let’s face it we are talking about cartoons. Give it a break.

    1. Aunt Polly

You’re contradicting yourself. Are they a part of history or are they just cartoons? Some cartoons are meant to be educational and historically accurate. Peter Pan never was. Also, how does the woke agenda affect YOU directly?

  7. Dawn Keibals

For the record, I don’t really care what they do with the ride, I have no personal impact here and I’m not offended by the old characters or the new. I’m not going to let a ride meant for children at a place meant for children be a factor in my happiness. However when the Trumper living next to me comments on the Latin fellow who cuts my grass and his status in the US I am going to go off on him on talking about freedoms and infringing on others. Disney as a business can make these changes as they see fit and if you are so angry about it, why are you spending your time, money, and resources supporting them. Sounds like you just want to be angry because you have nothing better to do. Dawn Keibals in your mouth!

  8. Jerry Atrix

Just because some people and businesses want to rewrite history into their narrative, does not mean it did not happen. Those who do rewrite history, they are only dooming themselves and future generations to repeat it. Successes and/or failures.
Disney continues to white-wash and rewrite everything these days, all in the name of PC. It will only bring them down further. They cannot please everyone, no matter how many changes they make!!

    1. Aunt Polly

Kinda like how Splash Mountain was a white-wash of Song of the South. LOL

    2. Aunt Polly

Kinda like how Splash Mountain was a WH|TE-WASH of Song of the South. LOL

  9. Darkness

Why not put both sets out next to each other and just be done with it that way no one can complain.

  10. Danielle

Please give me your definition of woke? Because most of you using the term can’t

    1. Lorenzo

What is your definition of it my virtuous friend?

      1. Aunt Polly

You’re proving Danielle’s point. You’d rather pivot and turn the question around than attempt to answer it yourself and risk looking foolish. Grow some balls, Lorenzo. Prove you know what you’re talking about, because so far, you’ve failed spectacularly in that regard.

        1. Lorenzo

You don’t have a definition of it do you?

Let me teach you my Disney jihadist friend…

Woke: An ideology where all discrepancies in outcome between people/groups are attributed to some type and extent of systemic oppression.

Now let me try to walk now…my balls are getting in my way.

          1. Aunt Polly

Just as I suspected. You’re giving us a F0X NEWS-style, “echo chamber” interpretation of what woke means, an interpretation that can’t even be found by Googling.

          2. Aunt Polly

Allow me to assist, my keyboard warrior chum:

Simply put, being woke is being aware of (and if possible, actively attentive to) important societal facts and issues, especially issues of racial and social justice. Beyond that, it’s easy to have a woke mindset by simply being a decent human being with empathy who cares about the rights of others, regardless of lifestyle or culture.

          3. Aunt Polly

In other news, I suggest you consult a urologist. Your walking issue might not be resulting from what you think it’s resulting from.

  11. Lorenzo

Oh Aunt Polly….thank you for your unoriginal right down the other side of the aisle response.

Newsflash: you are just as bad as the fox news crowd that you seem to be obsessed with. Only you are in your own box.

And I can see you love my responses, because your repeating certain aspects of them. I would love to take you out…but with a name like Aunt Polly you might be getting too many hot flashes on our date to Tom Sawyer Island. Only this time…you won’t be taking a nap! HOLLA!!!

    1. Aunt Polly

It’s clear that neither one us is changing the other’s mind anytime soon, so enjoy using your quality ITM time to vent about stuff you can’t control. Meanwhile, perhaps our ideal date would’ve been Flash Mountain in an alternate universe.
