The explanation is it either needs to be serviced to save what’s left or they may completely close it as the company that made the monorail cars is no longer making them and from my understanding they have been struggling to find replacements same as Vegas the track was made to a certain specification so it just can’t be any cars.
It’s a perfect non pollution transportation for all of us especially us elderly that sometimes just need a break and relax. I used to go to Disney world 3 tomes, Anaheim 30 times as a vacation since have to travel and pay alot. But more and more with things lime this won’t go. Fast pads gone unless you pay outlandish fees, nice rides like this gone.
Parks need upkeep, the monorail is likely being closed to either refurbish or expand it to more stops, there has seldom ever been a thing in Disney parks that has gone and not either came back or been replaced with something new.
I was wondering if this was going to happen. The company that manufacturers the parts for all Monorail systems , is going out of business or has already. Unless Imagineering is going to start fabricating and building their own parts and trains, this may be down for awhile , while they figure out what is going on. Las Vegas announced that their monorail system ( which is from the same company ; WDW sold their old trains to Las Vegas when WDW upgraded their own trains ) that runs the course of the Strip will likely be shutting down as well, which is hugely unfortunate as it’s the best way to travel up and down the strip. I hope so erhing is figured out . The Monorail is so iconic.
Busy time of year and covid before hand, lots of maintenance delays, new stuff showing up and so on… Things break down and things need repairing, it’s not Disney’s fault that things can’t run nearly 24/7, it sucks when they get closed especially when you’re about to visit but it won’t be closed forever, and if it is, something new will take it’s place
The monorail needs massive maintenance and there is no supplier for parts. So like last time they are having to find a new supplier and possibly order new monorail trains for both Disneyland and Disney World. Estimates for new equipment are around two to three years.
I’ve been riding the Monorail every year we go to Disneyland, since it opened in 1959. It’s one of my favorites! Hopefully they are just fixing it up, for another 70 years of Joy-Riding…
evolution and Disney Forward is why Monorail is moving. END of the 100th and Disney Forward has already begin. Notice the closure around employees path by for.er Splash Mt in critter country. That’s where we will cross over to the parking lot area of Dusneyland Forward ares after West Dr is closed off and built over. 2 new stations, one in DCA and another near Galaxies edge. With 2 more trains added totaling 6 and new track layout within the resort.
Why is it and how come who is running Disneyland now they are making Disneyland turn into a non-fun park and over expensive already now they’re shutting down once again another family tradition and ride to the park that has always made Disneyland what it is I feel sorry for the people who are running this place because eventually nobody’s going to want to come back anymore I have to say for me and my family you are overpriced now and you’re turning off and shutting down good Family Rides like the Haunted Mansion Pirates of the Caribbean the favorite ones that everybody has always loved I think it’s so sad to see this happen to a wonderful Resort like Disneyland California
What a shame. Ironically, my family was filmed sitting in the front seat of the monorail during the production of a discovery channel movie about Disney World. Shortly after this the accident that ended people sitting upfront happened. Well at least we will have that memory (and picture).
The company that supplies parts may be going out of business but they could switch to Japan as a new source given monorails are still being built there. This would also give them a chance to upgrade the trains which are very very old.
The monorail system is a maintenance issue, you can try to rebuild it so many times, they could spend the money, but they are more concerned about lgbtq xyz xylophone group
Seems all I read about is Disney closing attractions, And raising prices. For a vacation attraction you would think they could have at least beaten Great Adventure in best amusement parks. Sure Walt is rolling over in his grave.
Comments for Disney Ending Monorail Service Indefinitely, Closure Confirmed for This Summer

First of all, is Sonny Eclipse back? I love that restaurant too! And yes, by all means, we most definitely use the monorail at WDW!
John
We will not be going to Disneyland unless the monorail is operating.
Steven
They need to give a complete explanation!

No more Splash Mountain, no monorail…
Maybe they can close the Matterhorn next and make it into an IRS tax filing simulation .
Carol
What do they give you for all the money they charge you? They keep taking more away

It’s one thing after another. What is going on with Disneyland? There are already so many things closed already.

Is it closing down because someone got offended by the monorail?

They are closing because of the construction in downtown Disney
Diana
The monorail helps people get from Disneyland Adventureland to Downtown Disney.
Please don’t shutdown!
