Amid rumors that Taylor Swift will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in this summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the record is being set straight.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Taylor Swift is confirmed not to be in Deadpool & Wolverine. Rumors regarding Swift’s appearance in the upcoming Marvel Studios film have run rampant for months, with Ryan Reynolds playing coy when asked about her showing up. Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy also played coy but admitted he thought the rumor ran longer than it needed to.

“I regret that I was not quicker to shut it down the first time, so I’m going to default to my very true situation, which is as much as we love each other, the fear of death is so intense in me regarding Ryan and how he desperately wants to avoid talking about all of these proliferating rumors.”

Fans theorized Swift, who is a close friend to Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively, could portray the comic book character Dazzler.

These theories were fueled even more by Deadpool & Wolverine posters, which saw the two main characters wearing friendship bracelets similar to those seen at Taylor Swift’s global Eras Tour.

Multiple characters from past Marvel films, such as Halle Berry’s Storm and Ben Affleck’s Daredevil, are expected to make cameo appearances in the film. Other celebrities are rumored to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, though Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Marvel Studios are all keeping their lips sealed tightly.

Rob Mclhenney, a friend and business partner of Ryan Reynolds, is confirmed to make a short cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Not much is known about the plot of Deadpool & Wolverine, only that Deadpool is apprehended by the TVA (Time Variance Authority), a group first introduced in the Disney+ original series Loki. This indicates that the film’s storyline will heavily involve the Multiverse.

Deadpool & Wolverine releases July 26, 2024, with ticket pre-sales already breaking records for both theater chains and The Walt Disney Company.

Fans have even more Marvel content to look forward to next year, with Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four both releasing in 2025. Also releasing in 2025 is Captain America: Brave New World,  the next chapter in Marvel’s Captain America franchise.

The Fantastic Four is perhaps one of the most anticipated Marvel films ever and will mark the MCU debut for some of Hollywood’s most up-and-coming names, like Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The new team will be led by Hollywood icon Pedro Pascal.
