Magic Kingdom Disney World Park to Close down Early in June for Special United States Government Event

In the most recent update to the Walt Disney World operating hours calendar, it has been revealed that Magic Kingdom will be closing early on June 21, 2024. On that day, the park’s operating hours are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with an early entry window for resort hotel guests from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

The decision to close early will be linked to a private event associated with the Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games from June 21 to June 30 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Although this Disney Park will close for this event, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT will operate normally. Disney Springs will also operate as usual.

Walt Disney World tickets will also remain on sale throughout June of this event. If you plan to visit a water park, like Blizzard Beach, during this time, this decision will not affect you. The crowds might increase during this time, so planning is crucial. The Disney parks are familiar with these types of events.

Your Disney experience might be impacted if you plan to visit Magic Kingdom Park during this time. If you have already bought your ticket, there is still time to make arrangements before this event.

These games, which showcase service members’ athletic prowess and resilience, may prompt adjustments to the park’s regular operating schedule to accommodate the event’s logistical needs and ensure a seamless experience for all attendees.

What Are the DoD Warrior Games?

The Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games is an annual testament to the resilience of wounded, ill, and injured active duty and veteran U.S. military service members. This prestigious event showcases their strength and determination through 12 adaptive sports, including archery, cycling, precision air sports, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, indoor rowing, powerlifting, and golf.

Wounded warriors compete and embark on recovery journeys by participating in these sports, as adaptive sports play a vital role in their rehabilitation process. Since its inception in 2010, the DoD Warrior Games have provided a platform for these individuals to excel and inspire others.

The upcoming 2024 games are slated to occur at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, located within the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida, from June 21 to June 30, 2024. Drawing parallels to the Invictus Games, an international competition where selected U.S. service members and veterans compete as a unified team representing the nation, the Warrior Games serve as a beacon of courage and camaraderie within the military community.

Plan Accordingly, WDW Guests!

For guests planning to visit Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on June 21, 2024, the early closure means their time in the park will be limited compared to a typical operating day. With the park closing at 7:00 p.m. instead of the usual later hours, visitors must adjust their plans to make the most of their time.

Additionally, guests staying at Disney resort hotels may take advantage of the early entry window from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to maximize their experience before the park opens to the general public.

Guests must check the operating hours and plan their visit accordingly to avoid inconvenience. While the early closure may be due to a private event like the Department of Defense Warrior Games, attendees can still expect a magical experience at Magic Kingdom, albeit within the adjusted timeframe.
