Stranger Things Season 5 is on its way, and as a new actress surfaces to play Eleven, Millie Bobby Brown has spoken out about the show.

Stranger Things is Netflix’s biggest brand. Joining the likes of Bridgerton and Wednesday as the streamer’s most popular television shows, Stranger Things garnered even more fans with 2022’s fourth season, which clocked in an impressive 287 million hours in the first week of release for the first volume of Season 4. Arriving on Netflix in 2016, the drama series finds the small town of Hawkins under attack from otherworldly forces, and over the years, that threat has continued to grow.
It stars a huge cast, including David Harbour and Winona Ryder as Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers, respectively. Stranger Things also launched the careers of its younger members, with Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven/Jane), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), and Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield) all gaining international recognition for their roles in the Netflix series.

And while Millie Bobby Brown has played Eleven since the show’s inception eight years ago, reports have surfaced to suggest that an iconic 80s action star is set to take on the role in the upcoming Season 5.
Fans already knew that Terminator franchise star Linda Hamilton had been cast in the new season of Stranger Things in an undisclosed role. However, earlier this year, reports circulated that Hamilton–known for playing Sarah Connor in the Terminator series–would be playing an older version of Brown’s Eleven. These reports are yet to be confirmed by Netflix or the Duffer Brothers. It would be likely, though, when considering the Hollywood star they have on board and the fact her role has still not been shared.

As production commences on the hugely-anticipated Stranger Things Season 5, Millie Bobby Brown recently sat down with the TODAY show and spoke about how bittersweet working on this final season is, as well as her new movie Damsel (2024).
“We’re filming right now. It is our last season, so we’re really excited to be back together again for one last hoorah,” Brown said. “But it does feel sad. Every day we go on to set, we’re like, it is the last second day, the last third day. But we’re definitely embracing it all. It is nice to be back with everyone.”

The plot of the fifth and final season is unknown. It can be expected that the team will face Vecna in one last battle, and this time, they might be aided by their parents. The new installment in the franchise, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, playing on London’s West End, revealed the backstory of Henry Creel, AKA One, AKA Vecna, and highlighted how a young Joyce, Hopper, and Bob were intrinsically linked to the character. The stage production also introduced another character that could be the key to Vecna’s undoing.
It stands to reason that the stage show is a lot more important than first thought and may prove to be vital viewing before the new season releases in 2025. Stranger Things: The First Shadow is currently playing at the Phoenix Theatre in London, England.

As for Linda Hamilton’s role, her being potentially cast as an older Eleven could signal that flashforwards may be a part of the new series or that Eleven survives her encounter with Vecna and lives to see an older age. But happy endings are never quite what they seem in the town of Hawkins, not while the Upside Down is around…
Stranger Things Season 5 will seemingly continue the story of Vecna’s rise to power and his continued attacks on Hawkins. The show will see the return of Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven/Jane, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Henry Creel/Vecna/One.
