Over the last few decades, tons of rides and attractions have closed at Walt Disney World, but few are as beloved or as special as The Great Movie Ride. Guests boarding the massive ride cars for the first time had no idea what kind of adventure they were in for, with the attraction transporting them into some of Hollywood’s most iconic films. From Alien (1979) to The Wizard of Oz (1939), The Great Movie Ride featured and was inspired by some of the most important and influential films the world has ever known.

However, The Great Movie Ride officially closed in August of 2017, marking a huge turning point for Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Walt Disney World Resort in general. This closure signified the end of an era, taking the spotlight off of the actual production of film and shifting it onto films themselves. This closure was accompanied by the removal and destruction of several other film production-oriented attractions, like Streets of American and Lights, Motors, and Action!: Extreme Stunt Show. The removal of both of them allowed Disney to create Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which was one of Walt Disney Imagineering’s biggest undertakings.

The ride has remained an infamous attraction within the Disney theme park community, but recently, interest spiked due to an animatronic from the actual ride being listed for sale online.

That’s right; an actual animatronic from the ride itself has sprung up for sale online in a new eBay listing. The figure, an animatronic mummy, is being sold for $13,000 on eBay.

During the ride, guests were taken through various spooky underground sections, passing by a variety of animatronics, including one of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. One section featured multiple mummies that guests narrowly avoided, with one of them now landing online. This makes the ultimate Walt Disney World souvenir, though how this figure ended up in the eBay user’s hands is unspecified. The following photo shows exactly where the mummy was placed on the attraction:

The item’s description is as follows:

An animatronic mummy figure from the Egyptian Temple scene in The Great Movie Ride at Disney-MGM Studios. Of particular note, the base the figure is affixed to is labelled “Great Moments,” Which was the original name of the Great Movie Ride!~  The figure stands 70″ tall atop the 21.25″x19.25″x18.25″ high base, bringing the entire height of the piece to 88.25″. Both the historic base and figure are in fine park-used condition, with intentional distress to the mummy.

This is Mummy #4 which appeared in scene 6, “Lost Temple”. Has 3 pneumatic (air powered) functions- head tilt, right arm foreword, and left arm foreword.

The Great Movie Ride was replaced by Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a trackless dark ride attraction that takes guests through an incredible animated world. The ride marks the first-ever actual ride to feature Mickey Mouse and has been a huge success for Walt Disney Imagineering. The ride’s popularity led Disney to create an identical version in Disneyland in California.
