Fans of Back to the Future were nearly ready to hop into their DeLorean’s to travel back in time after a recent post regarding Michael J. Fox presented itself in the same format that a death announcement would, on one of the biggest social media accounts in the world.

Pubity is a social media account on Instagram that has over 37 million followers, and tends to share news and entertainment related posts, with a few ad generated posts in between. The things that Pubity posts when it comes to news it often fact-checked and verified information, which has left the account to be a reliable source for its followers.
Whenever a celebrity of great stature has passed, the account, along with many others, shared the news of the death on their account. That is why their latest post regarding Michael J. Fox sent fans into a frenzy. Upon first glance, the style and look of the post caters directly to the the appearance of a death announcement, thankfully, that is not what was written on the post.
It instead reads: Michael J. Fox has battled Parkinson’s since 1991 and started a foundation to find a cure, raising $2 billion for research.
Michael J. Fox, renowned actor and Parkinson’s advocate, founded his foundation in 2000 after revealing his diagnosis at 29.
Despite challenges, he achieved fame with roles like Alex P. Keaton in “Family Ties” and Marty McFly in “Back to the Future.”
Transitioning to advocacy, he established The Michael J. Fox Foundation, raising over $1.75 billion.

Considering Michael J. Fox has been battling this disease for decades, and according to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, patients usually live between 10 and 20 years after diagnosis, a post like this certainly had many of us Fox fans panicking for a moment.
A majority of the thousands of comments on the post, look a lot like this, “DON’T DO THAT TO ME EVER AGAIN!!! LEARN HOW TO WORD THINGS!!!” or “So, he’s still alive…. right???”. Many have told Pubity to not “scare them like that”, and many of the comments that noted they initially thought the worst have thousands of likes, with many others supporting the same thought process. Many also noted that the post looked like an “obituary”.
Luckily, Michael J. Fox is still alive.

In 1988, he married his co-star, Tracy Pollan, and they welcomed their first child, Sam, a year later. During his 20s, Michael completed seven seasons of Family Ties and starred in 10 feature films, including The Secret of My Success, Casualties of War and several Back to the Future sequels. While filming Doc Hollywood in 1991, Michael developed a tremor in his pinky finger. A consultation with a neurologist revealed a surprising and devastating diagnosis: he had young-onset Parkinson’s disease (PD). He was only 29 years old. ”
Fox recently released Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, where he shares what is has been like living with Parkinson’s over the past few decades. We are able to see when it began, and what Fox did to hide his disease, as well as how it has progressed. We can also see how his family still strongly supports Michael and takes great care of him as he continues to be the best husband and father, given his circumstances. Still has been nominated for multiple awards this season, already having won multiple Emmys.

Just a few days ago, Daily Mail shared, “Michael J Fox moved BAFTA viewers to tears on Sunday night as he took to the stage in a wheelchair to present Best Film to Oppenheimer. The actor, 62, who has battled Parkinson’s since 1991, was helped to the podium to announce that Best Film had been awarded to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, one of seven gongs for the epic.
After entering the stage in a wheelchair, Michael earned a standing ovation from stars including Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper and Barry Keoghan, who were in attendance at London’s Royal Festival Hall.” Overall, Fox’s effect on Hollywood has been monumental, and all of his peers certainly acknowledged that.

The Back to the Future trilogy, helmed by director Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg, has solidified its place in cinematic history as an iconic film franchise.
