A Walt Disney World employee allegedly scammed a theme park security guard in a recently released report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The security guard in question, a 47-year-old, claimed they were screening theme park guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom when they said one of their coworkers looked “visibly distraught.” Each of the four parks at the Walt Disney World Resort employs multiple security guards at the entrances, ensuring the safety of other guests and other Walt Disney World cast members.
The co-worker claimed she was desperate and needed $1,000 as soon as possible, or she was going to lose a whopping $150,000 later that night. A reason as to why the cast member needed the massive amount of money was not given in the report. The co-worker did not explicitly ask for money from the security guard, but they felt sympathy and wanted to help. The security guard ended up sending $1,000 to the co-worker through an online payment service.
The first attempt at sending the $1,000 payment did not go through, forcing the security guard to try again. The co-worker requested the $1,000 be sent to a man named Joseph instead, and this time, the transaction was successful.

The co-worker received the $1,000 and promised to pay the security guard back within an hour. This was agreed upon with a handwritten note. However, the hour passed, and no money had been sent back to the security guard.
The security guard spoke with a sheriff the next day, with the co-worker still allegedly working on sending the money back. Unfortunately, the sheriff’s office stated that there was nothing that could be done.
“Due to the unusual circumstances of the agreement and the money transactions, (the security guard) came to believe she was the victim of a fraudulent scheme. I made sure to explain to (the security guard) that while it was entirely possible, she was the victim of a financial scheme, she willingly provided the funds and also entered into an agreement with another party,” the wrote a sheriff’s deputy as part of the incident report. This incident occurred in December, with the details just now being released by local authorities.
This incident follows multiple arrests throughout 2023, the details of most of which have been released in the last few weeks. Also in December, a pair of twin sisters engaged in a physical altercation, resulting in one of them getting arrested. The pair were fighting inside their room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort in Walt Disney World before authorities arrived, handcuffing one of the twins and arresting her.
