The Disneyland Resort will be closing early today, February 20, 2024, due to inclement weather in the area. Both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will be closing at 9 p.m. instead of 10.p.m., one hour earlier than normal.

These early closures extend to the resort’s massive shopping and dining district known as Downtown Disney, which will be closing at 11 p.m., two hours earlier than normal. The Walt Disney World Resort features a similar location named Disney Springs, allowing guests to relax with some delicious treats or shop-il-they-drop at a wide range of stores.

Orange County, the county in which the Disneyland Resort resides, is currently under a flash flood warning until noon, with the parks closing out of an abundance of caution for the safety of its guests and employees. However, it’s not that much fun navigating the Disney theme parks in pouring down rain anyway, and when you remember that a few rides and attractions cannot operate in the rain, these closures start to make even more sense.

The inclement weather caused other iconic California theme parks like SeaWorld San Diego and Knott’s Berry Farm to close early as well.

This is far from the first time the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, has closed early, but it’s always a bummer for guests visiting during this time. It’s unknown how the rest of the week will look for the Disneyland Resort, so make sure you stay tuned here at Inside the Magic for all future updates.

The Disneyland Resort, also known as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” is split up into the two previously mentioned theme parks, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Throughout these two theme parks and Downtown Disney, guests can uncover the magic of Disney through a variety of rides, attractions, restaurants, shows, live entertainment, and shopping opportunities. Guests can explore classic dark rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride or enjoy some of the latest and most innovative theme park creations like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
