The DeSantis-backed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), the current governing district for Walt Disney World Resort, had a board meeting a few days ago that stirred up controversy and chaos as members walked out and more. Disney, on the other hand, stayed quiet, preparing for an inescapable war coming as the dismissal hearing date looms closure.

New Updates on the Disney vs. Desantis vs. CFTOD Lawsuits
A Florida State Senator is endeavoring to disband and dissolve the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District in a conclusive effort to restore governance of the district to Walt Disney World. This initiative follows Governor Ron DeSantis’ assumption of control in February, and the Senator seeks to reinstate Disney World’s authority over the district.
The newly proposed bill aims to transfer governance of Disney’s district in Central Florida back to the House of Mouse. Specifically, it seeks to reinstate the former Reedy Creek Improvement District, restoring it to its status as of February 26, 2023, before Governor DeSantis assumed control.
This comes at an agitated time as the hearing date for dismissing the lawsuits from the CFTOD and Florida Ron DeSantis will occur on December 12, just eleven days from now. DeSantis and his board members are making their final stand against Disney to dismiss their lawsuits before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, during the CFTOD board meeting earlier this week, three Republican senators present during the Orange County Legislation Delegation staged a mass walkout during the session. The strike caused chaos and controversy within the meeting as members began questioning the professionalism of those in attendance.
The meeting and the bill proposed are pointing towards who will remain with complete control of the governing district for Walt Disney World Resort.
The CFTOD frequently holds various meetings throughout the months, and this one took place just a few days ago. The Board of Supervisors for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District dedicated substantial time, especially during its initial meetings, asserting their belief that the district was inadequately administered under Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District. However, the current board appears to have further extensive perspectives on the matter.

According to the official transcript and agenda of the meeting on November 29, the CFTOD board had lots to say about the upcoming court hearing, mainly how the former Reedy Creek governing district was poorly managed before Ron DeSantis took over earlier this year.
With the Republicans walking out and the board meeting together to discuss plans and actions to remain in control of the governing district for Disney World, DeSantis has his eyes set on proving the House of Mouse wrong not only in court but through legal matters as well and remain in complete control of the district despite a new bill being proposed to strip him of his precious district.
With the official dismissal hearing date drawing closer and closer, it will only be a matter of time before Disney takes the lead or DeSantis gains more ground in his fight against Disney and its governing district. The playing field remains leveled out as both sides prepare for war.
