Disney vs. DeSantis – The Lawsuit Dismissal Hearing Coming Soon

December 12 is approaching, and the CFTOD and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are making their final stance to gather as much documentation as possible to have their current lawsuits with Disney World dismissed before a United States District Judge. The motion to dismiss comes after DeSantis requested several documents from Disney of previous agreements before Reedy Creek became the CFTOD, the current governing district of Walt Disney World Resort.

The DeSantis board, however, is in hot waters after multiple reports were released detailing the harsh termination of several board members and employees from the governing district. The firings took place right before the Thanksgiving Holiday, which is also right before the Christmas and end-of-the-year celebrations.

An Orange County Legislative Delegation is meeting today to hear a new proposed bill that will examine whether or not the takeover of the former Reedy Creek by Ron DeSantis was, in fact, legal in the state of Florida.

As of yesterday, Florida State Senator Linda Stewart is preparing to file a bill to terminate the CFTOD and restore all power to Disney World regarding its governing district.

Florida State Sen. Linda Stewart, D-Orlando, is preparing to file a bill to terminate the Central Tourism Oversight District and restore Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District to what it was before Gov. Ron DeSantis’ takeover.

News6WKMG producer and content creator Landon McReynolds was credited with getting the news first on this bill filing by the Democratic State Senator. McReynolds also posted a video where the Democratic State Senator went up to a podium to clarify her filing to the general public.

Per the interview above, State Senator Stewart said the following about the motion to file this new bill to relinquish the CFTOD and give Disney complete control back of its governing district:

We need to dissolve what is creating this havoc” | State Senator Linda Stewart speaking today after filing bill to terminate the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and bring back the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

The new bill seeks to give control of Disney’s governing district back to the House of Mouse in Central Florida and return it to the former Reedy Creek Improvement District as it existed as of February 26, 2023, before DeSantis took over.
