Kevin Feige is widely credited for masterminding the construction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), a groundbreaking and interconnected franchise that revolutionized the film industry. As the President of Marvel Studios, Feige played a pivotal role in envisioning and executing a shared universe that brought iconic Marvel Comics characters to the big screen.

Starting with Iron Man in 2008, Feige’s strategic planning and foresight laid the foundation for a series of interconnected films that spanned multiple phases, introducing beloved superheroes and intricate storylines.

His ability to weave character arcs, plotlines, and crossover events created a cohesive cinematic universe, culminating in ambitious projects like The Avengers (2012) and the Infinity Saga. Feige’s commitment to quality storytelling, casting, and fan engagement has not only shaped the MCU into a global phenomenon but has also set a new standard for franchise filmmaking.

Now over 30 films later, we have a lot more Marvel characters, including Captain America, Spider-Man, Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Widow, Hulk, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and so many more. With so many heros, we of course, need villains.

In Marvel Comics, Loki is a fictional character and a supervillain who appears primarily as a nemesis of Thor, the God of Thunder. Loki was created by writer Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and penciller Jack Kirby. His first appearance was in Journey into Mystery #85 in October 1962.

Loki is portrayed as the adopted brother and archenemy of Thor, raised as the son of Odin and Frigga, the rulers of Asgard. However, his true parentage is later revealed to be Laufey, the Frost Giant king. Odin adopts Loki after a war between Asgard and the Frost Giants, and Loki grows up resentful of his perceived lesser status and constantly seeks to undermine Thor and gain the throne of Asgard for himself.

Tom Hiddleston entered the MCU 13 years ago with Thor, and would go on to star in The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. His portrayal of Loki would grow to be so powerful that Disney+ would create the series, Loki, which just concluded its second season.

Loki is a Disney+ original series that premiered in 2021 as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The show follows the character Loki, the God of Mischief, portrayed by Tom Hiddleston. The story picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame when Loki, in an alternate timeline, escapes with the Tesseract during a time heist gone wrong.

The Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that oversees the timelines of the universe, detains Loki for violating the timeline. Instead of facing erasure, Loki is recruited by TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, to help fix the unraveling timelines caused by his escape. As Loki navigates the TVA’s complex bureaucracy and confronts variants of himself, the series explores themes of identity, destiny, and the nature of free will.

Here we are able to meet Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), who is a variant of Loki, Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), a clock who is loyal to He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), Judge Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and more.

Throughout the series, Loki encounters various challenges, forms alliances, and discovers the existence of a mysterious variant wreaking havoc across timelines. The narrative delves into the consequences of time travel and introduces viewers to different aspects of the MCU multiverse.

Season two of Loki pulled in 10.9 million viewers for the premiere and 11.2 million for the finale.

While the shocking ending of the series had many in awe, a recent post by Miss Minutes herself may have shocked some fans even more.

Miss Minutes (@MissMinutesTVA) replied to a Loki Tweet, correcting the social account which reintroduced Loki as a God, stating, “According to my files, they were already a God.”

Many quickly picked up that Miss Minutes used a They/Them pronoun for Loki, and were confused, as many typically refer to Loki as a man due to Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal, and the actor’s personal gender.

What many seem to miss is that Loki is a shape shifter, and if we go back to Norse mythology, ” Loki was seen as a fluid entity who had the ability to change his gender. This dissertation will analyse how modern productions have adapted this characteristic of his – he is often portrayed as gender fluid, i.e. a person whose gender is not fixed nor in identity or expression.”

Considering Sylvie is also a Loki variant, and so was a crocodile in season one, it would be impossible for the central Loki that this show focus’ on to be one strict gender.

That being the case, fans were still shocked to learn the news.

While some were happy, exclaiming, “miss minutes with a they/them pronoun slay”, others tried to correct Miss Minutes, “He**”.

Some commented, “Don’t make us hate him pliz”, “HE was already a God”, and “He*** 🤦🏾”.

While it seemed many refused to understand that Loki was not one central body form, others were happy to see Miss Minutes use the correct pronoun for Loki. While this usage makes total sense, and as we referenced above, ties back to Norse mythology, there are still some viewers who believe Disney is attempting to share their “woke” ideology with viewers.

One thing that may have confused viewers came from a fan who commented on the thread, stating, “You using they whereas the whole series used he/him”. While Tom’s Loki may have been a he/him reference at times, the many other forms of Loki were not, which is likely what Miss Minutes is referring to.

You can stream season two of Loki now, on Disney+.
