Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy was a colossal success both critically and financially for the franchise. It cemented Nolan as a must-see filmmaker, immortalized the legacy of Heath Ledger with his Oscar-winning performance as the Joker and legitimatized the comic book movie genre as serious cinematic art. The trilogy grossed $2.5 billion worldwide and became a permanent fixture in the cultural zeitgeist. Since a hero is only as good as the villains they face, DC has partnered with McFarlane Toys to offer exclusive collectibles of the Dark Knight villains at San Diego Comic-Con 2023.

The DC Multiverse figures will be part of McFarlane’s limited “Gold Label” edition. They will release three figures that will be available at the DC booth (#4645) for SDCC attendees. The collectibles will also be accessible on the McFarlane Toys website while supplies last.

McFarlane’s first Dark Knight villain will be of the iconic “Bank Robber Joker,” that marked his first appearance in the second film. It is a seven-inch figure that comes with two versions of the ‘clown prince of crime.’ One version displays him in his iconic clown mask and the second depicts Heath Ledger’s Joker in full makeup.

The next Dark Knight villain is the destructive, back-breaking, Bane. Tom Hardy’s portrayal of the roided-up, city-conquering brute is a detailed figure that carries no detachable accessories, but features a detailed trenchcoat made of real fabric.

The last of the Dark Knight villain exclusives will be a translucent recreation of Heath Ledger’s Joker in Batman’s sonar vision. This depiction is in reference to the climax of the movie where the Caped Crusader immorally hacks into Gotham City’s phones to find his maniacal nemesis. No accessories are included with this figure either, but the ghost-like version is set to be a hot commodity at the Convention.
These three Dark Knight villain ‘Gold Label’ exclusive figures will debut at San Diego Comic-Con, Thursday, July 20.
