Disney World is never going to leave Florida. They are too heavily invested here.

Doubt it will happen. However I doubt that Universal will expand their parks in Florida… I would wager that they would be more likely to build in Texas and start the process to divest from Florida

As a resident of NC I would love for them to move here but I know it will never happen. Just not feasible and too many people lose out in the process.

    1. There’s a simple way to fix all this just get rid of DeSantis. He’s not going to get his way so as the crybaby he his he’s going to throw tantrums. Vote him out Florida he’s no good for anyone

      1. C

Ehh, but they want him, otherwise they would’ve voted him out this past election

      2. Willie E

With political donations to the candidates who supports Disney and Disney’s political clout from their many years there, probably DeSantis can be voted out

      3. James Shumard

Disney has had a leash on the central Florida residents since the early 70’s.
They acquired the property by deceit after tampa and daytina turned them away…
Disney has “governed”themselves outside of the public eye.
Employs thousands for a pittance, no health insurance, rigorous work, long hours…
Our population has exploded due to “jobs”, here..
All of our thoroughfares are jammed up when the tourists spawn on the highways to go to the parks…
Yes, let them go, Disney forced its way into Central florida, forcing everyone to smell mouse poop!!!

You mean expand over there? That would be nice, but don’t you guys get bad winters?

      1. Rw

Depends on what part of the state you are in. Kinda like Florida. Weather varies. Southern and coastal nc have fairly mild winters.

If Ron Disantis keeps up the way he is going with Disney he is going to have our State lose probably the biggest revenue for Florida to NC. The thing he should be focusing on lowering the cost to go to Disney world were families can go to take there families instead of the very rich.
If this is any indication what you will be like as president you DO NOT HAVE MY VOTE!!

    1. Chris B

Why does Ron DeSantis need to focus on making DW less expensive to go? thats not his job. its Disneys job to do that lol. Please dont vote.

    2. walt

So you are against DeSantis interferring but he should be working to interfere with the pricing policy of a private company? HAHAHAHA This is exactly whats wrong in this country – people know ZERO ZIP NADDA about the function or workings of our Constitutional Republic

  4. Chris B

So if DW moved to NC which will never happen what will all the people that only moved to Florida because of DW do? lol

  5. LockTrumpUp

    Never happen!!!!!!!

Disney isn’t going to close or move the Florida parks. That said, why should they invest further there? Rather than making gate 5, start work on resort 3. North Carolina isn’t the first to try and attract disneys business over this, although this might be the most concrete move.

Plus, they can tweak DeSantis by pointing out that they could’ve built in Florida, except it’s too hostile right now

  7. Tennessee

Yeah. That is so stupid. One of the very biggest draws to Disney is the weather. NC ain’t got it. Another stupid idea from an elitist politician who himself taxes the poor in order that the rich might live luxuriously.

As a resident of NC, we see these waste of time and money bills introduced by state legislators all the time. When questioned, these elected officials try to put a spin on the frivolity, claiming economic growth and job creation. Instead of focusing on improving the underserved communities in our state, reducing crime, funding law enforcement, improving schools and infrastructure and paying teachers a living wage, Chad Chaudhuri (D-Wake), the Senate minority whip, Sydney Batch (D-Wake), (Wake County is one of the most prosperous counties in the state) along with Mike Garrett (D-Greensboro) are deputy Democrat caucus leaders, and they want a study lure WDW to North Carolina and asks for $750,000 to do it??? What a waste of taxpayers money. As the author stated, this is a stunt to further their political parties agenda, aimed at a Governor from another state and his political party affiliation. Sad, sad, sad.

    1. Manny

You mean like DeSantis spending funds to ship immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard on the taxpayer’s dime?

      1. Steve

No Manny, it’s more like the all the border states taxpayers having to foot the bill so all the illegals have food, shelter and free healthcare before they are set loose.

  9. Walt

No wonder woke liberals love the new Disney – they are permanent and ignorant residents of Fantasyland

    1. Roger

      Right on!!!!

I don’t think it is feasible to move Disney World unless it gets crazy worse. But I do feel like NC on the eastern side of the state is a great option to build a 3rd US park and is close enough yet far enough from Florida to help attract new business and help take the strain off of the Florida parks. The weather is really not bad on the east of I95. We rarely even get snow and then for very short times. It is better weather then the almost Disney park in VA that was actually about to going into development before Disney scrapped it at the last min. Put it near I40 and I 95 meet.

    Two words: Term Limits

  12. Jeannette

Well, they certainly could! And that’s where the power lies. Let me remind some of you who laughed at the idea of Trump in the White House until he actually moved in.

No, I don’t think that Mickey will leave the mouse house …. But he could.

The thought of Disney World moving is beyond silly for these reasons:

    1. The place is twice the size of Manhattan and almost exactly the size of San Francisco, you can’t move that.
    2. You also have Universal Orlando outpacing Disney and getting ready to open Epic Universe in 2025, Disney isn’t going to hand Universal such an easy win like that.

    3. If they move they’d have to lay off 77K cast members and leave them jobless, and all because you hate DeSantis? Say what you want about the man, but laying off people just because you hate someone is downright selfish.

    4. Speaking of being selfish, believe it or not there are still people in Florida that love WDW, Disney won’t just betray their Florida fans just because y’all hate DeSantis.

    5. They also opened many new attractions lately. Remy’s ratatouille adventure in 2021, Guardians of the Galaxy cosmic rewind in 2021 heck it’s not even a year old, and Tron Lightcycle Run only 3 weeks ago and they have more attractions currently under construction. They won’t scrap a ride that’s only two years old, they definitely won’t scrap one that’s not even one year old, and they sure as hell won’t scrap a brand new ride that’s merely 3 weeks old. And they can’t just take down all these other attractions that are currently under construction.

    6. DeSantis won’t be governor forever. Even if he doesn’t run for president he doesn’t have much longer to go as governor

    7. Florida may be deep red now, but that certainly won’t last forever. What if Disney moves to a blue state but later in the future it turns red and then Florida turns blue?

    8. Florida is in a location in the world that’s easy for guests to access, Disney also has their cruise like operating in Florida

    9. Florida, like California had the perfect weather for year-round operation. Once upon a time Disney wanted to open a park near Washington D.C. The plans eventually fell off and the project was scrapped. One of those reasons was the weather. They move somewhere where there’s snow in the winter, they’d have to shut down for the season. If they move to some where in Tornado Alley or any where with deadly tornadoes they’d have to worry about the park being ravaged by tornadoes.

Final reason: They can’t afford to move. It would take decades and decades possibly a century to rebuild Disney World especially exactly to the way it is. It’s Disney’s nuggets cash cow, it’s the most visited theme park resort in the world. If they move Disney World, Florida’s economy would feel an impact no doubt, but Disney would feel the worst. Quite frankly, if they did move Disney World, the Walt Disney company would bankrupt itself out of existence.

    1. Brian

Guardians of the galaxy opened in 2022* pardon the error.
