Well, Jess, this is a good article. I have thought for a while that EPCOT has become a party atmosphere rather than a family atmosphere. The huge number of annual passes which Floridians are buying is a factor here.

Sorry but I disagree with this assessment. Are there folks who are stupid and act like idiots, absolutely, but you will get that anywere. What problem are you actually trying to solve? How many people per day go to these events…how many of those are idiots? Back your outrage with data, I’m willing to bet your idiot pool isn’t a high percentage vs people acting like adults/having a good time not acting the fool. FYI average daily Epcot attendance is 34,000 people (open source not factoring high payoff event). I’ve been to Food and Wine/Flower and Garden dozens of times, maybe and I stress maybe have seen only a few occasions idiots acting the fool. So what would you say 3% are idiots? That’s 1020 people out of the daily average are idiots (I think that’s a very high estimate personally speaking). To recap, idiot behavior should never be accepted or condoned but neither should be generalized outrage either unless you have the data to back it up…life’s too short to be constantly outraged or offended.

Walt Disney, whom you reference, specifically did not want alcohol in his parks. So while he intended it to be for people of all ages, he explicitly wanted no alcohol. Your comment is as ignorant as you claim the other people are for wanting an alcohol free experience for their kids and family just as Uncle Walt did. Don’t try to shade others when you don’t know the facts yourself.

The culture definitely encourages excessive drinking at Epcot. So many people wear tshirts celebrating “Drinking around the world” and professing their drinking goals. It seems like every parent pushing a stroller has a drink in his/her hand. On our last visit, I saw a boy around 7 or 8 years old helping his dad by carrying a beer for him. Disney trades on their family values yet they make a ton of money selling alcohol.

All Disney has to follow is Walt’s instructions for no alcohol in his Park , at the time he had only Disneyland in 1958 & I am positive that it would have carried over to the other parks! SO LEADERSHIP IS DISRESPECTING WALT ON ALCOHOL “PERIOD”

Invalid argument. Walt died 57 years ago! So many things have changed that selling some alcoholic drinks in his park would be the least of his worries! But hey he was okay with everybody smoking everywhere so which is worse. Times change get over it.
