There are several Disney characters you maybe wouldn’t trust flying a plane. Of all of them, though, Goofy would probably be at the top of our list. Getting on a plane piloted by Goofy seems like a bad call.
Well, now, the beloved pal of Mickey Mouse is getting his very own plane.
Azul Linhas Aéreas of Brazil is home to “The World’s Most Magical Fleet” – a fleet of four airbuses themed around Disney’s most beloved characters. The project began in 2021, and they previously unveiled planes inspired by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck.
Earlier this month, at a travel event in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Azul Linhas Aéreas and Walt Disney World Resort announced that a fifth plane inspired by Goofy would join the fleet. The over 400 media and travel professionals at the event were treated to a surprise appearance from Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy, as well as a performance by Brazilian singer Sandy and her husband, musician Lucas Lima.
The four existing planes were reunited for the first time inside the airline’s maintenance hangar for the event, allowing for some fantastic photo ops. With the addition of the fifth plane, Azul Linheas Aéreas will have the largest Disney Character-inspired fleet flying anywhere in the world today.
Southwest Airlines is also home to a Disney-inspired plane, unveiled to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The plane is decked out in the 50th Anniversary’s signature blue color, as well as “EARidescent” decals of popular Disney characters. The interior of the plane is also decorated, with decals on the overhead compartments and Disney characters on the window shades. Breeze Airways also recently announced “Disney-to-Disney” direct California to Orlando flights.
