Don’t understand the casting on this. Little Mermaid was one of my favorite animated movies and also my redheaded daughter’s favorite. She related to Ariel, mainly because they both were redheaded. Won’t be watching live action show. Not a fan of them, anyways, but definitely not since they completely changed Ariel. It’s not a race issue, because I would feel the same way if Ariel was a brunette or blonde. Why change something that has worked for decades? I am so over the way Disney is being run now. Walt would be so disappointed.

Walt
Disney churning out more politically correct and woke rubbish. Jess your parent must be so proud.

Walt has nothing to do with it lol. He died in 1967. TLM came out in 1989.
However since we are on the subject of mermaids, mermaids seen in his works (King Neptune and Peter Pan) had varying hair color.
