Sometimes I wonder what it would be like going to Disney alone. But going by yourself just ruins the experience and fun. Because it cannot be the happiest place on earth if you’re lonely.
I enjoy going alone. You can do what you want when you want. There is no deciding after every ride where to go next, where to eat, when to get there or when to leave.
If you want to spend all day floating in the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon or ride a ride 10 times in a row you can because you’re not interrupting anyone else’s fun.
It seems like when you’re alone more people talk to you in the lines and the employees are quite friendly to talk with. I’ve learned so many behind the scene things just by talking to them. Especially now that the international ones are coming back there is always someone to talk to.
I enjoy going with others too. But I find it way more relaxing alone. Maybe because I deal with people all day in my line of work it’s nice to have peace and quiet.
But going through the experience all me is horrible. No one to share the memories with who can remember the face you made, the scream they let go, the looks of wonder in their eyes. I’ve done the alone vacations, and they suck for the most part. Better to share the experience with someone.
There are definitely advantages to going alone sometimes. I do sometimes enjoy being able to go on any ride I want (and take advantage of the single rider lines) and do more shopping instead of hopping straight from ride to ride.
That said, I enjoy going with my husband and daughter just as much. He likes to take me on adventures I probably wouldn’t do by myself.
Which one is more fun really depends on my mood at the moment.
I used to go with a couple of different friends all the time. It was fun because I was “spending time with them”, but from finding days off that coincide with each other, making sure the day is not blocked off since our passes aren’t the same level, making sure we can both get reservations, and most importantly, not liking the same rides, I decided to go it alone more often.
As you get older, not everyone wants to go on roller coasters or thrill rides with you lol.
I used to go alone all the time in the 90’s. It was a great experience back in its heyday. Back before all the terrible remodels and woke changes. We still had Robin Williams as the TimeKeeper and the amazing Dreamfinder. On my days off I’d take my old Kodak digital camera and head out to the parks to have a relaxing stroll through the park of my choice, coffee in hand.
The way I see this in my opinion, is that it would be interesting yet weird to be alone wandering around the park without anyone next to you. Some people like being alone which is of course their decision to do so, but at the same time there are of course people out there who want to be with another human soul to share the experience with. If this were me going to Disney without my mom, I would feel so weird! I’m so used to being with her, and I love having her around to share the moment!
That’s just me, but like I said before, there are people who like to go explore the place by themselves instead. This article is really interesting about how people feel, and how they manage their way around the lonely situation.
You are never alone at Disney. The magic surrounds you. You are enveloped by the sights, sounds and the fantasy of Disney. You are amazed by the wonderful families with their children that are so enamored with Mickey Mouse the can’t stop laughing. You engage cast members. You interact with guest on the street. You’re never lonely.
I go lots of places alone, especially on vacation. I like to do whatever I want, when i want. I find that people seem to seek me out in line to chat with all the time. I even met a very adorable family that lives near by me and we became great friends. I’m even going to Disney with one of them on October for the weekend. Then I’ll be on my own for another week. I play Pokémon Go in line to pass the time or people watch. I’m never sad. I’m doing exactly what I want.
I have made the personal decision not to go back to the parks. If things are going better in Texsas when they get the park there all finished. There has just been to much negativity at Disneyland and walt Disney World that I have been reading about.
I’m sorry for you. I guess that’s what happens when people focus on one-sided politics like Fox News. Maybe one day you’ll regain your independent thinking abilities. Get well soon!

I know some people prefer to go alone, especially if nobody else is interested in going. But I don’t think that’s the reason a lot of people are doing it now. I really believe it’s the excessive, over the top, cost of going there! I was one of 6 kids! Today, my parents would have to take out a loan in order to even think about it! There is no way anyone can even try to tell me that Walt would want this! No, he definitely wanted the parks to be affordable for as many families as possible. Let’s be real. Disney is no longer primarily aimed at families, at least not the middle class and they definitely not interested in anyone even close to poor. Disney has become a rich person’s playground!! And I think Walt would blow a gasket if he were still alive. Life is too short for me to engage in a political food fight. So if you get rude, don’t expect a reply from me! I’m interested in arguing with any trolls anymore, it’s just a total waste of my time!
It’s always better to be with someone to share the memories with. Going alone is good if you have a specific goal in mind best accomplished alone. For the most part, better memories (especially to share with someone who can remember and relate).
Disney is a family park, you should go on special occasions…Turning 3, graduation, honeymoon, and when you hit mid life crisis !Now Busch Gardens and Adventure Island is a day park for a person!
I love going alone! I do what I want, when I want. I get to take photos of things I find interesting, and can take as long as I need. I get to speak to cast members, and meet new people in single rider lines. I’ve made new long term friends I’d never have met had I not gone alone. If I feel a need to share, I have social media. I like going with family or friends. I like the magical moments with them. But I often get to have other magical moments I wouldn’t have had if I’d been with others as well.
