Would a true Walt Disney fan want to see an old attraction go without improvements?
-Upkeep of the attraction and minimal improvement additions as not to completely alter the entire attraction. We are talking nostalgia and memories here for Disney fans…Why take away a beloved memory on any attraction? Case in point Epcot….OMG bring back the nostalgic 80s Epcot.

Would a true Walt Disney Fan try and stifle new artists and creators?
-A true fan can give their opinion, suggestions. Ultimately its in Disneys hand. The question here is a bit aggregious towards fans. There is an old showbiz saying “Everyones A Critic.”

Do you think Walt would approve of the decision to remove characters he loved?
    – Walt Disney (Uncle Walt) was the boss, what he said goes, what he loved stays…
In the case of Splash Mountain Walt Disney would, in my opinion, have a very firm stance as to altering the attraction.

This doesnt say it couldnt be done.

Look at POTC, the orriginal attraction is mainly still in tact, some charater and scenes were changed, the addition of Captain Jack, but it did not overwhlem nor was a complete redo of the attraction.

Spash Mountain could have been done the same way. Incorporate the Princess and the Frog characters, but not completwly eliminate Song of the South either, characters could have been minimalized or used as background characters. Disney needs to put more character in attractions.

Stop using cheap alternatives such as projection as a main source, use it onky for effects.

That is a hard question to answer, I just do not know & I have books on the Walt so I have studied him after I found out I was Cousins to the Disney Family.

“…And if now, in “Song of the South” we have succeeded in a measure to help perpetuate a priceless literary treasure–my co-workers and I shall, indeed, be very happy.” — Walt Disney

I believe Walt would have been proud that Splash Mountain had continued to perpetuate the folklore of Br’er Rabbit beyond the film and that, with its great success as an attraction, it should continue to do.

The characters are not problematic. I am not getting into details of who is

I believe Walt wanted WDW to keep growing and changing. I like to think that today he would want to incorporate the only black princess into the parks with her own ride. Mr. toad is no longer here nor the Snow White ride, move on…

Walt’s memory will never die there are too many guests who cherish what he conceived with Roy’s, Lillian’s & all the original Imagineers help. Walt will live forever in our minds!

As a Disneyland Fan and Retired Cast Member. I’m watching the park I loved change, and I do not believe for the better. What was Critter Country will become a dead spot in the park. The “New” ride will end up just like the ridiculous Winny The Pooh ride, LOW rider ship. What else is next to killed off in the park? I get change needs happen, but do it for the right reasons, the the whinny cries of the few….

    NO!

A better question: when will the writers quit using articles as purple prose to justify their answers? The core problem is the disrespect a otherwise harmless ride gets by mere connection to a set of folktales written in the era’s dialect.

And as if to add to that disrespect, the ip holders wish to use the bones of an iconic attraction “honor” a princess which efforts amount to a coat if paint and nothing new being done.

Walt would have been beyond pissed and enraged over that factoid alone, as to grow the park means that yes, the old must be torn down but something new and grander must take its place.

Instead, the Bob’s are at it again.
