This is complete crap! So the movie was not what some people wanted – the idea of a wise old black man giving advise based on stories he told to convince a little boy , who happens to be white , to not run away is more of a positive story then other movies of the same time. But then again the same people who protest this movie will protest the 3 stooges for its portrayal of black people . News Flash you can’t rewrite history so embrace it!

Agreed, Please do the research on the origin of the stories, the dialect, & the lessons of these stores. NEVER WRITE SOMETHING UNLESS YOU KNOW ALL THE FACTS!
Walt Disney himself put himself out there, creating this movie, then lobbing for James Baskett to win the FIRST Oscar to go to someone of that decent and in that & the story told helped to create TRUE inclusion. You must start somewhere. Walt believed in that!

Even Wikipedia will inform you differently!

Once again minority rules. I love Song Of The South It is Funny Entertaining and Uncle Remus is such a wonderful Character. He is heartwarming and wise to bad you can only see darkness instead of the wonderful light this story portrays.

The only thing I happy about for the changeover is that at least with the new equipment being added the ride won’t look like it has been neglected for the last 10 years anymore. But Princess and the Frog was a minor box office hit at most for Disney. They could have picked something more relevant and popular to use instead of this story.

And to echo what the other comments said: Just report on theme park news and happenings. I really couldn’t care less about the political thoughts or leanings of the the writers here on the site.

They should have put it on Tom Sawyer’s island and tied it into the Riverboat. They could have had the characters on the Riverboat, maybe even playing music. THAT would have been epic.

The only people offended by this ride were self-important white people looking for something to do with their boring and unimportant lives.

No, not excited for the new ride. This was a classic and should have stayed. There is nothing racist about the ride. It is about a rabbit escaping a fox and my kids loved the happy tunes. With over a 3 hour wait on it’s last day, I bet plenty of African-Americans happily rode it. We can’t change the past, but it is better to learn why it was wrong than remove all mention of it. Princess and the Frog is one of my least favorite movies. All the Caucasian people in it look like bumbling idiots. I’m also sure they will ruin this ride by using a lot of screens, like they ruined The Great Movie Ride with M&M Runaway Railway. We went on that once and that was enough. I hope this fails miserably for Disney.

I feel like the only reason why Splash Mountain is leaving is because of the fiery but mostly peaceful protests dedicated to career criminals in 2020.

The only reason this nonsense is happening is because a handful of antifa leftists demanded a change and Chapel was spineless enough to allow the change. Nobody had an issue since day one with the theme and yet all of a sudden it’s evil and wrong. Just leave it as is, thank God Tokyo isn’t as stupid and WDW. We need sanity to return to the parks and the world, stop changing everything because a couple of people claim racist nonsense. Not everything is racist. RIP Splash Mountain you will never be the same, truly a dark day for Disney

Amen to that. This world is changing and sometimes not for the better. We can only learn from history so when you try to remove it you are bound to bring it back for the worst.

You can keep this new version. I guess you are oblivious to the fact that the Brer characters were based on African folk tales told by the slaves. Nice job wiping it all out. This is what happenes when there are too many clueless people making decisions.

And no one seems to care that Walt Disney worked tirelessly to campaign for an Oscar for Baskett for his role of Uncle Remus. He didn’t totally succeed but the actor did get an honorary Oscar, which was well deserved and totally historic.

      WELL SAID

I call foul. James Baskett’s character was the best character in the Song Of the South movie. He’s a great role model, kind, wise, considerate and caring. He deserved his Oscar, (although an honorary one) for his performance in the Walt Disney film thanks to Walt Disney’s tireless campaign for him, which is historic. If you want to get rid of something racist put a bayou on Tom Sawyer’s island and tie it into the riverboat. They could have done amazing things on the riverboat to tie into Tiana’s movie.

Once again utter garbage spouted by a clueless, uneducated person who has obviously never seen the movie. Splash Mountain is based on African American tales of Brer Rabbit and not on the live action parts of Song of the South. Erasing part of African American history and replacing it with a story based on a book by a white American woman about a white girl, Emma, which in turn was based on a German fairy tale. Disney conveniently changed the colour of the girl in the making of the Princess and the Frog, as they are now doing with the live remake of the Little Mermaid. The rethemed ride is not a good fit as there are no mountains in Louisiana. If Disney wanted to promote inclusiveness in their parks then surely Tiana deserved a new ride in a more suitable part of the park together with a restaurant (Liberty Square / Tom Sawyer’s Island in the Magic Kingdom). Disney, you are going down a very slippery slope to appease a minority of people, many of whom have probably never even stepped foot in a Disney park
