Well past time. More complications, fewer magic vacations. I do hope no one at Disney falls back on the one-prevalent argument that it is easier to schedule cast members when the park attendance is predictable — never was an issue before covid.

Numbers, Dollars, & Budgets Oh My!

The reservation system was a two part mechanical system implemented not because of covid as popular PR would state.

The first part the reservation system was meant as a way to control per day expenditure on maintenance. By capping the capacity of guests per day equals a lower day to day maintenance cost. Also factor in Genie + and how many guests could not either get into a park in a certain day and or not able to ride an attraction. The magician always has its tricks.

The second part of the system meant for Disney to maintain or create an artificial numbers based on what Disney corporate controlled as available. Of course the parks would book up reservations if yhe numbers per day were capped and changed from day to day. Also was a way to control the quarterly earnings. Closer to the earnings call Dianey saw higher numbers attendance, profit, waittimes, etc…

It was all an artificial inflation creation brought in by Mr. Chapek and others of the board to substantiate demand. Litmited availability, sure you will book/sell out faster.

Then add to the mix, the era of Facebook, Twitter, Apple/Samsung smartphones, and the tag line, “Everything OnLine”, however what these facebook twitterers forgot to say is how complicated they made everyday life, even on vacation, which is suppose to be a getaway, complicated.

Averages now guests spend 40% or more of their actual vacation time at Disney in their phone. Something old school Disney never enabled until , well being a Hollywood California Company, Disney, as others in Hollywood jumped into the bandwagon of eveythings digital.

For the price of the tickets I sure wouldnt want to spend half of the time on the phone trying to reserve this and that. O wait there used to a be a reliable service that did that for you too, the concierge.

But no, these yupsters, with plaid shirts and beards, have to complicate everything. Best advice for these generation, go back to Seattle.

If Disney does not change the reseration system, the long term effect will be in the millions of $$$ lost due to fustration of guests with this and Genie+.

Whens the last time you saw someone on their phone at a local carnival making a reservation for the ferris wheel that is right in front of them?

Do away the reservation system. It eliminates any spontaneity for locals and key holders, especially for special occasions. Trying to get together with family and friends is difficult and frustrating trying to get same day reservations.
Plus do away with genie+ or include it with Magic Keys. We pay enough already.

we want to be able to go to whatever park we want whatever day we want without have to be up at the crack of dawn – like when they had fast pass and park hopper. the spontaneity is killed with the genie and park reservation. vacation is supposed to be where you can sleep late, not be on your phone all day and be able to just go where you want. we would gladly pay a fee for the fast pass w/park hopper – it was so much better

Better to have a reservation system than to get to the gate and be told the park is closed due to capacity exceeded!
We like the smaller crowds and shorter lines!
