I just came across this article and was thinking that Disney can limit purchasing, but how can they stop a person from selling something that belongs to that person? How do you enforce? Sounds like a rule with no teeth.
Just put a limit ( say, umm 2 item limit) on the items so more people can enjoy them. Stores do it every week when you read their ads in the Sunday newspaper.
AGREED! I can’t stand the reselling of merchandise that the person bought inside the park, and immediately sits on a park bench next to the gift shop in WDW or Epcot and lists it on Ebay and Mercari, etc. Unclassy and immoral when they see the line for said merchandise is hours long (i.e Figment popcorn containers). Ebay could be involved in the ban, by banning the auctions of said merchandise, but I don’t think they would, they’d be giving up a lot of commi8in doing so.

Disney have lost there minds . It’s a free market , if I want to buy something and then resell it , it’s not Disney’s business. With all the new rules and regulations with Disney , I do not see Disney being around in 10 years. They should probably worry about the child predators they hire first .
yes it is a free market but when people go and by 10 of a limited item it is wrong. Wait till there is something you want thats limited edition and when you get there you find it all sold out because people were buying 5 or 10 at a time
Me & my children are avid collectors of WDW limited edition (LE) pins, park-exclusive Pandora charms, & other event-specific memorabilia (Mickey’s Xmas Party, HS Spectacle of Lights, Epcot Flower & Garden, etc.) for the past 13 years. During this time, I’ve witnessed the emergence of a horrendous BLACK MARKET of FAKE items sold directly by some
auction eastern auction websites and appearing on ebay as well as from many large virtual stores located around central Florida. These fake items undermine confidence in Disney products & the hobby of collecting memorabilia – and are driven by BOTH INSANE RESALE VALUES ON EBAY & DISNEY’S LACK OF US POLICY TO RESTRICT & PROSECUTE RESELLERS & COUNTERFEITERS!
Disney simply needs to have a small team of individuals monitoring sales & auctions on eBay for limited edition & park exclusive items. It’s Obvious that a seller who has sold 10+ of a limited edition item is engaging in resale for profiteering- and they should have their access to the parks taken away. It’s very frustrating to attend a 2nd or 3rd day of an event or party only to find that the merchandise is already sold out! Or to watch 1 adult with 4 young children buy 10 of every limited edition item and 50 of the limited release items at a Christmas Party and then go outside the store to post the items on eBay.
Disney knows these problems are occurring and needs to take action to protect confidence in the integrity of it’s products & to combat the flagrant & preventable reselling for 200-1000% profit of Disney Memorabilia!

Can this please be expanded to the U.S. parks?

Wish other parks would adopt this policy

There are already limits on merchandise, but people get around them in all sorts of ways.

I can see no way this is enforceable.
