Disney was stupid to decide to make Splash Mountain into a bayou. A bayou would have fit perfectly on Tom Sawyer’s island and tied in with the Riverboat. They could have had a band on the Riverboat with the alligator on it and it would have been amazing.
Not at all against a rebrand. It makes sense to change to something more well know and less controversial then song of the south. I will say i do question the change to a bayou as it is a mountain. I guess i will have to see it when it’s done to pass judgment.
Changing to the bayou is probably because they already have the water part of the ride intact, and could likely change the animatronics to reflect Tiana’s adventures with her Gator, Mama Odie, and other bayou buddies. I agree that change is good. Besides most of the kids (and a decent portion of the adults) going to the park have never heard of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear.
My niece rode all three “mountains” in one day. In fact she did each ride twice using the old fast pass system. Plus she rode Splash mountain twice immediately after the night parade passed. The que was empty so she walked right up. When she got off, she got right back in a line that was still short.
Won’t it still be a mountain after the redesign? Is not as if their tearing the whole thing down, right? Just changing the animatronics and set dressing?

Splash mountain is my most favorite DW ride. I have taken all splash rides on same day. It’s a great memory.

The Brer characters are traditional African folk tale characters that are hundreds of years old.
