Sounds like Prince Harry and Meghan story.

  2. Angry Disney Fan

Yo, Disney either needs to chillax or just end filming and animation all together

  3. Angry Disney Fan

In fact the world needs to go into hybernation

  4. VLM

I mean…it kinda does run with some of the themes of the Hans Christian Anderson original source material, but…like, COMPLETELY inverting his intended message.

    1. Brian Levine

Apparently real creativity is dead at Disney. How about coming up with original stories?

      1. Chris Wood

Disney and the music industry have a lot in common. They can’t original productions. They have to take something old,, try to make it new and it sucks. I mean listen to the music to day. All remakes. Every song is a remake of Elton John or Rick James.

      2. Kim

Please leave the older animated stories alone. If you want to make new ones with real people fine but so many of us feel in love with the animation an do not want to see real people in them

        1. Tom

Eric wasn’t a wooden character. He was complex first of all. Secondly, it was also in the hands of the viewer to fill out their own version of his story in their… god forbid… imaginations. And Eric was a character that pushes against the narrative that only female characters wanted love above all else. Love was his biggest desire. This Disney stuff is nonsense.

        2. Jj

I agree so much, where are the new stories and characters to love? Leave the old ones alone

        3. Alice

Give it a rest Kim. I would like some originality shown on film, but there’s nothing wrong with it we making an old classic. It’s done all the time.

  5. Rosemarie

Who cares it a movie not real life. Lighten up people there are bigger things to get your panties in a twist about.

  6. Mmitchell

More idiocy from the morons ruining Disney. Stick to the original, there’s a reason it was so good. As it is, I won’t be watching the new garbage.

    1. Roger Stevens

Disney is giving way to certain groups on ride changes, why not screw up the 100 year old stories.

      1. Jayne1955

Disney majorly changed ALL Of those hundred year old stories in the first place.

      2. Eportela

Certain groups? You mean marginalized and underrepresented groups? What a concept where all ppl can be represented

        1. Levi

Just send a statement on the release date of the live action little mermaid. Watch the original instead on Disney plus. Give that one more views.

    2. Jamie

      Thank you! I totally agree!

  7. George

Stop taking your children to this woke movies . Money talks, everybody walks. That will fix Disney’s problem.

    1. Taschara

Money is the reason why Disney and other companies are going “woke.”

      1. Former Disney Fan

How’d that work out for Disney with Strange World?

    2. Rio

You’re correct. There’s a reason for the saying, “Go woke, go broke”

    3. lorraine

exactly the way I feel about it……….you dont like the way its done, dont go see it…….If enough people dont go, they wont make money on it

      1. Azza

The problem is Disney doesn’t care about profit anymore. Since they’ve been fully commandeered by the deep state their sole agenda has been pushing Neo Marxism on a new generation. They’re likely subsidised by the deep state directly or indirectly. Most influential institutions in the west are controlled by the deep state including governments.

        1. Jayne1955

          LOL

    4. David Ellefson

At this point Disney is so committed to woke that even filing for chapter 11 wouldn’t turn them back. People will always go to the parks and see the movies because the mystique is just too strong.

    5. Lisa

      Agreed.

  8. Jordan P

I’m torn about these things. I love the originals and almost feel guilty that I’m not excited about these new “modern spins.” What would truly be BRAVEi is if Disney created new storylines altogether rather than recycling old ones. Create new tales about gay, black, and other marginalized groups. Make them leads! That would be really amazing.

    1. Dorre Coon

      Concure to the attached comment.
Leave the classics alone. They are great the way they were made. Create new story lines for the newer times. Changing the old is just being lazy and taking away the amazing potential of the new.

    2. Linda

Please read Anderson’s story. To link either of these stories to his is a shame. Ariel dies and the prince marries a human.
They are Scandinavian so playing her anything but that perputuate the idea that being European decent is some thing to be embarrassed over. It’s called reverse discrimination

      1. Johnno

You can’t even communicate correctly, but I guess that isn’t surprising considering your backward view of what the world looks like.

    3. Dixie

      Agree 💯%

      LOL

  10. Karen Baker

Leave Prince Eric alone as well as the other characters. We love them the way they are. I do not like the live remakes at all. We enjoy the original because they are entertaining. Disney needs to stop listening to the woke minority and listen to the majority.

  11. Bb tt

This movie just keeps getting worse and worse.

    1. Carmen

      I couldn’t agree more..!

      1. Marvel Fan

Welcome diversity-yes. Force diversity-no. Older shows/movies had more of an array of people than credited, but it just wasnt made into a big deal or not make sense. The series 24 had a black president long before Obama and he was amazing. Never thought oh here is african american representation, only how awesome he was and that I wish we had a real president like that.

  12. Roger Stevens

Disney is giving way to certain groups on ride changes, why not screw up the 100 year old stories too.

    1. Jayne1955

They did that when they made the films first. None of them follows the original stories as written.

  13. Keep the characters the same race. Keep the story the same.
Or just make a Black Disney
And make every Disney movie with black people.
    What in the hell…

    1. Jayne1955

Reminds me of how successful the WIZ was, as a black version of the Wizard of Oz. They could do more of that kind of thing.

    2. Johnno

Your call for a segregated Black Disney says it all.

  14. Wyattbw

Disney critics: Lion King is just a shot for shot remake. Disney is so lazy.

Also Disney Critics: God, I can’t believe they are changing something about the original film, Disney is just woke trash.

  15. Jayne1955

I loathe almost all of the remakes, although I concede a couple are tolerable. But I’m not interested in any more of them and I wish Disney would go back to more original content. If something is not broke you don’t need to fix it, as the saying goes.

  16. Confused

I’m just confused why they’re changing Prince Eric to have more “personality”? Did they really not see their own original movie? He had a personality.

  17. Stephen Rogers

What’s next Mermaid not a girl a no sex merperson and the Prince a unisex person stop messing around with the stories

  18. J

They are ruining the little mermaid with this remake, by not staying to the likeness of the original character! They need to just stop…

    1. Johnno

J: “They are ruining the little mermaid with this remake, by not staying to the likeness of the original”

How to say you hate black people without saying it.

  19. Not concerned with the çhange. It’s the quality, budget, and time invested that impacts a good production. The time, ,effort and vision of the Director is what we see on screen. Lastly his or her choice in actor and actresses. Is there good talent? These are in the control of the director. Make a Disney quality great and we’ll love it eternally. Thanks!

  20. Patrick

I think that the Prince should be Struggling with Gender Identity and……WHa?….Whaaaaa????…C’MON, We are living in a very Explorative Era…and should consider the circumstance and methods of Resolving things…… AND BESIDES, LOVE IS LOVE…:)…;)

  21. Lisa

Ariel is an iconic character that was created and has been cultivated for decades now. We have all grown up and now our children have grown up with this iconic character. Our little girls have stood in long lines to meet her and take photos with her and NOW because of this new woke nonsense, we are changing who she is??? What the heck. I have no problem with Disney creating another black princess if needed but PLEASE stop trying to ruin our favorite characters/movies. It’s not a prejudice thing, it’s about preserving the iconic character that we all know and love. ❤️ Also, I just can’t imagine what genius decided to wipe out the years and years and millions of dollars that has gone into creating the character and brand that Ariel has become. What is Disney thinking?

  22. Abby

Disney has gone to far with remakes and retellings of a lot of their films, We were so disappointed when the story in April about them not doing this anymore was only an April Fool’s joke.
    Leave the classics alone!

  23. TB

This sounds like absolute garbage now. Was planning on seeing it but not anymore, what a joke.

  24. Laurence

Seems the magic is longer here

    1. Laurence

      No longer here

  25. Omal

Time for Disney to animate back live-action movies.

  26. .just me

I don’t think I will be watching any of them. The originals are the best keeps the innocence for the children. The remakes do not capture the sweet innocence of children it’s always about trying to make a point. We are not living 300 years ago we are living today.

  27. Alice

Give it a rest ppl. Your butt hurt because there’s been changes to the original cartoon characters? I think the changes are for the better and will include a wider audience. Explore new things. BTW, I never watched the little mermaid because I could not relate. I recently listened to some of the vocals of the original mermaid and found them boring. Halle Bailey’s vocals are amazing. I don’t understand why you guys hang onto some fantasy like a freaking mermaid and talking ocean creatures and a Jamaican sounding character. You guys are ridiculous. I am very excited to see the new film and can’t wait till May 2023..

  28. Mickeymouse3

The remake of The little Mermaid will flop like the rest of recent Disney movies. In this case, why make a live action of an already successful movie unless you’re doing it just for the sake of doing it? People are getting tired of the rehashing going on at Disney and that will be the biggest reason for it flopping, not a recasting of the star.
