Trans is an umbrella term, but it seems most people use it in reference to transgender people – in other words, people who identify with a gender different from the one they were assigned at birth, whether male or female. Drag refers merely to dressing up as the opposite sex, whether or not you identify as the gender you’re dressing up as. Drag is performative whereas trans is representative of one’s inner identity.
