If you think a lanyard is a necessity, then you might not know how to theme park. Are they a convenience? Yes, but you 100% don’t need them.

    1. Mindy

Yeah, pretty sure people have pockets or wallets. Where are they keeping their IDs and credit cards?

      1. Kat

Wow crying over 21.00 but yet they will pay for fast passes that can run 300.00 a person depending on how busy the park is. You can buy lanyards all over Orlando, not just in the park. Those are not a necessity that is convenience. And with all convenience it does come with higher price. Think there is other things to cry about then the buying a lanyard in a park for 21.00 vs stopping at a retail chain that are just down the street and buying them for 10.00.

    2. Dan

Not a necessity. However, if you’re staying on-site or have purchased Express for the day, a lanyard is super convenient.

I don’t think anyone here has actually been to Universal. The lanyards are 13 to 15 dollars and the Harry Potter plastic holder is 1 dollar. Do a little research people.

Here’s what you do…You buy a cheap fanny pack like every other tourist, and you stop crying like a baby! You just spent $2,000 on tickets, and crying about $21?…just stop, stay home and suck your thumb…ya baby

People will complain about the simplest things. First of if you choose to buy these things, that is on you, not the park or anybody else. These block heads know they are going to need a pouch or wallet to carry their passes around. These lanyards are not nessesary, but they are good to have. So just buck up and spend the money now and tell your little darlings this is your birthday or Christmas gift and stop complaining

  3. Erika

I think it’s ridiculous that you have to have a pass to carry around. When you pay to enter your paying to ride all the rides .. my family of 14 when’s this past Aug an it was such a hassle to keep track of the passes .. But we handled it ended up buying lanyard at Walmart way cheaper for the rest of the trip. My beef is being lied to by the over the phone guest services not once but twice on being able to upgrade our passes an mgmt at the park lied an tricked us . We have been going for the past couple of years but the past experience was awful so my family won’t continue our trips to Orlando universal studios.. liars even inside the park the cast members lied very disappointed when that much money was spent ..

You might want to explain what the heck you are talking about.

  4. Rob

Ok. Bring your own? Who said you had to buy theirs?

  5. Anna

This article is hysterical. Buy your stuff from Amazon before you go. Stupid article! If you think UO is expensive March on over to the house of the mouse, that should put it in perspective. And here’s a thought of a lanyard is going to break the bank and Orlando theme park may not be for you!

  6. Steve

    Go to Walmart.

  7. Rob

It’s not a problem for me I will never set foot in any of the parks in Florida Jus ripping off the working class hope the all close for good they know that there is a lot of stupid people who will pay there prices. People wake up when you can no longer can afford you bills and expenses because you wasted on high end parks some day you will be sorry

    1. Steve

With a leftist regime and historic inflation, you are a rube to be saving money. USD wont be worth the paper it is printed on soon. It already isn’t worth the metal in the coins.

      1. Ash

You think some skyscraper is suddenly free? You think that some land down the street is free for the taking? You think some manufacturer is going to spend hours making something for free? Think that lady serving you food is free?
Things have value and that is the basis for economic activity. You gold standard wonks don’t know wtf you’re talking about. Do us a favor and stay out of politics and economics.
        You’re wasting oxygen.

        1. Steve

I said nothing about a gold standard, stop talking to the voices in your head.

    2. Tim

So you want to put all those people out of work? seems kind of odd to complain about the wages and then advocate eliminating the jobs all together. You exemplify the problem with the left’s economic and social theories.

    3. joem

You’ll never set foot in one again, but you read and comment on the stories about them. Kinda sounds like you are still a fanboy.

      1. ALI

I literally had a panic attack just from reading his comment. The grammatical and spelling errors made my skin crawl!

  8. Queen

Good Lord, the illiteracy of your commenters is astounding!

Mobile Tickets are now a thing! You can save and store a digital version of your physical tickets to the app and use that as your ticket on your mobile, no need for a lanyard. Lanyards are a fun accessory – no where near a necessity.

They are the Furthest thing from a Necessity. They are a Convenience. What is an example of an Overcharge for a Necessity is the price these Theme Parks Charge for people like me Who are Disabled and absolutely Need a Power Scooter for mobility reasons. These Scooters cost around $2500 each and are PAID FOR within a few weeks of use and yet they keep charging for These

I would just buy the lanyard at Walmart if it’s that big a deal. I quit going because of their ridiculous prices. Between the tickets and the fast pass, hotels ect. We spent well over $1,000 for only a few hours and we only made it to two houses. Total waste of money in my opinion. This year we decided to do other things. Corn mazes, pumpkin 🎃 patches ect. We have spent less money and had more fun.

  12. Sue

Go to the dollar store and buy one. Anything you buy at the parks is over priced and made in China and marked up 75%. But nobody breaks your arm to buy the stuff or go to Walmart It’s all the same crap made in China

  13. Joe

Universal is gouging on lanyard pouches. Until recently they sold clear ones for $1. Now they have been discontinued and only the fancy ones with designs on one side for $5+. As a premier pass holder, I want the clear pouches so both some des if my pass can be seen. It helps with accessing the Express lines quickly with both the pass color and the bar code on the back are accessible. Definitely get a clear pouch somewhere else. I’m not paying $5 for a pouch I find less useful than the $1 ones.

    1. Jeff

I also have a Premiere Pass. I keep mine in my wallet and pay exactly $0 on lanyards.

  14. Joe

BTW, when you buy a pass for Legoland, they give you your lanyard for free. Same at Kennedy Space Center.

  15. Mr. B.

Go to Walmart or any of the tourists junk outlets

  16. Jayne1955

Don’t buy a lanyard when you get there, then. Bring your own if you want one.

  17. Jeff

A necessity?! 😂 I have been visiting ALL the theme parks in Orlando for the past 32 years literally thousands of times since I moved to Orlando in 1990. I have taken/used a lanyard exactly zero times in all those visits. You need a ticket to enter. You do NOT need a lanyard. It’s a souvenir, like a popcorn bucket. Nice to have but definitely not a necessity.

  18. Sabrina

Oh for gods sake. stop your damn whining. I am pretty sure the shop clerk didn’t force you to pick up the lanyard, then forced you to walk to the counter, than the cashier took your wallet out of your pocket, opened it up, and took your money out of your wallet herself. Just another idiot with no common sense. You just can’t fix stupid, you can only slow it down with a 2 by 4! By the way, where was you wallet when you paid for it? In your pocket? Put the damn ticket there then!!!

  19. Daniel

We usually go with a Harry Potter package, which comes with lanyards included, however, if we didn’t we have plenty laying around the house we could reuse. If we didn’t I could easily pick-up some prior to arrival for almost nothing if I were unwilling to pay the theme-park premium; or, you can just scan your tickets to your phone. Not that big of a deal. Buy them or not, this isn’t a story.

  20. Jeff

No, most people do not use lanyards. Use your wallet or pocket – works just fine. Absurd thing to whine about – these aren’t a necessity!

  21. ALI

I literally had a panic attack just from reading his comment. The grammatical and spelling errors made my skin crawl!

  22. April

Then stop buying the really expensive ones and get the 10.00 ones there are cheaper ones available period I would know

  23. Dylan

Lmfao anyone complaining is just cheap and likes to complain. Fun fact they have an app and you can add all tickets and passes to the account and it even shows express passes, temp locker rentals and history of purchases… the cards arnt required lol and the app can be scanned for park entry with saved passes; only premier pass holders can’t scan a QR code to get in… and if you drop 800+ for a Premier pass $25 isn’t anything esp considering the discounts you get in everything with premier…
