Self fulfilling prophecy. Ignore the ride and then claim it needs to be destroyed. Just one more lie engineered by the “destroy everything good” by the fascist woke mob. If anyone needs a history lesson – this is how Germany in the 1930’s looked as this is much bigger than just Splash.

    1. Joem

Wow, you are a total whack job.

      1. Todd

        No kidding, huh?

        1. Ron Fisher

You can’t even spell your name right.

      2. MarMar

Are you saying that’s not what happened in Germany?

      3. KJ

        Wow….really.

    2. Jay

How’s that tin foil hat fitting?

The maintenance crew for Splash Mountain is causing all the problems to happen on purpose so it can deter guests from going on the ride. Their plan of hoping guests experience the water in the logs and the malfunctioning animatronics so the guests can say “thank god this ride is closing” and it would make it easier for Disney to win the fight over the ride.

I’ve been riding this ride for decades and this Sept (2022) was the wettest I’ve ever gotten. There was a brief mechanical at the top and my log was the first in line. The water level may have been higher than normal due to the gap in logs, causing extreme amounts of water to be splashed into the log. Everyone in the log agreed that this was unusual. If this is happening regularly now, it’s no surprise that the logs are eventually filling with water and sinking.

Had similar experiences when we were there in August. We’ve never been so soaked on that ride and I’ve been on it more times than I can count.

      2. Steve

It’s a freaking water ride! We ride it TO GET WET!! that’s why it’s so popular in the summer you pansie… If you don’t like it go ride the horse drawn trolley, just as long as it isn’t too stressful for you

We were there a couple days ago at Disneyland and rode Splash Mountain. I have been going on the ride for almost 30 years and I have never gotten as completely soaked as we did this week. The entire log was 100% under a wave. Also a good one minute of the ride was in complete and utter darkness. I know they aren’t close to renovating the ride as they haven’t filed for permits – and the City of Anaheim is going to take a very long time to approve. They are just cheap ***holes.

    2. Francis

      That’s a bit of a reach.

    3. Dan

The entire ride is a mess. It’s shameful how cheap Disney has become.

      1. dmmoriole

So they are changing the ride to appease one group while offending another group. The princess and the frog is quite offensive with all the voodoo in the movie. And trying to convince us that there is good voodoo is wzcked.

      2. Lilly

Such a shame…the best ride at DisneyWorld has to close because of a misunderstanding of great movie. And, seriously, how does the Tiana themed ride fit with Frontierland? Can someone explain why Tiana couldn’t have her own special place with the other Disney princesses with as much land as there still is around DisneyWorld?

    4. Joem

Except there is no “fight”. They are doing what they announced they would do.

    5. Catherine Salazar

But WHY would they want it closed??!!

  3. Vicki

So stupid! A ride that most everyone loves being destroyed fir a FAKE story that has no history! The story was a FRENCH fairy tale about a FROG PRINCE. Not a black cook! And please don’t call her a Princess…she’s not! If you want to get right to the truth, Tge Briar Rabbit takes are much more culturally correct for the Black community. They are actual stories told you Joel Chandler Harris by actual plantation slaves! And they are based on takes from Africa! Not sure why any African American would take exception to the tales. As a matter of fact, those same stories were “borrowed” by some of that community for books of their own and neglected to mention Harris who brought the stories to life! Every segment of American society shoukd have stories that they can be proud of….I don’t think destroying Spjash Mountain does that!

    1. Francis

Have you even seen Song of the South?

      1. Jayne1955

Yes, I’ve seen it and I have it on DVD. The black main character was the best character in it. He was not a slave. It took place after the war so he was a sharecropper. And the stories were authentic folk tales. If they wanted to get rid of something offensive they should have put a bayou on Tom Sawyer’s island and tied the island in with the riverboat.

      2. Phoebe L Ho

Why in the name of God would you forbid your kids to see Princess and the Frog??

        1. David

If they actually have the same tastes as you, then why do you need to “forbid” them?

Why do you care about movies stars being “stars”. Are you trying to raise your kids to admire or worship them?

      3. Wolfen

Yep and it is a classic. Stop being so butthurt.

    2. Catherine Salazar

What are you talking about? What does that have to do with Splash Mountain???

  4. Salle

Time to put this ride out to pasture, it had a great run.

    1. Catherine Salazar

You could say THAT about Disneyland itself, you noodle!!

  5. Shirley

This is a purposeful destruction of a ride by Disney. They have let Splash Mountain deteriorate by neglect. Despicable.

    1. Clifton Brewer

      It’s the Chapek way.

  6. Helen

We just rode it last week. It was wonderful. I hate that it might be going away. It’s one of my favorite rides. It will be such a disappointment to change it. Create another ride for that movie.

    1. Francis

I’m sad from a nostalgia point of view, but I have no attachment to Song of the South, and I can’t imagine any children of the last 30 years do either. At least The Princess and the Frog is a movie children today could watch.

      1. Jayne1955

I have it on DVD. I loved Song of the South as a kid. The character of Uncle Remus was amazing. I wanted an Uncle Remus in my life.

      2. Anonymous

Not enough children of today, because they are very few compared to the real fans and Disney Customers. I checked like many others. And besides, it didn’t earn much like SOTS or other classics. The Children of today would eat Chi SOTS if they weren’t lied too and of Disney would just release it on DVD on Disney Plus by the subscribers and customers demands. It can happen and things may change.

      3. Tosp

        Wtf is wrong with you?

      4. DisneyFan

Wrong. I’m 32 and I was shown the movie by my father many years ago. It’s a great film with a beautiful message. Everyone wants to claim that Splash should go because kids today can’t relate because it’s not a well known IP, etc. etc. Can they relate to spaceship earth? How about Jungle Cruise? Space Mountain? Also those rides were original rides not based on classic disney movies…should they be rethemed too?? Disney only cares about $$$ and pushing sales for Princess merch, hence why they’re going this route. If you think it’s because of representation purposes, boy are you wrong? Why did it take them 13 years to give Princess and the Frog and Tiana so much attention? It’s all fake and only to benefit them through sales of her merchandise. Not because they actually care about her or representation. Otherwise they wouldn’t be erasing actual representation such as the African folktales Splash is based on.

  7. Chris

That place has been going downhill with maintenance for years. I blame the lack of skilled technicians as the cause.

  8. Acbb

For Disneyland’s? The sooner Splash Mountain goes down so that it can be changed to Princess and the Frog, the sooner a piece of Critter Country gets reclaimed by New Orleans Square! (I just hope Bob the Bean Counter doesn’t penny pinch the funds necessary to do the job right!)

  9. Cheri

It’s such a shame that there are so many people that love this ride and can’t fully enjoy it, with all if the mechanical issues. But yet, they’ll spend thousands on a new ride.

  10. Cathy Salazar

I would hate to see that vintage fun ride closed permanently! Surely in this modern age whatever’s wrong can be fixed! Please, somebody Imagineer this!!

  11. Michelle Speirs

Wow not sure if your cast members or AP ‘s or simply Disney critics but, it possibly will just get some tweeking & maybe some re-imagining like the incredicoaster. Or, maybe yes, it could close and then be replaced by something the kids coming through those gates today, Will one day, call the new attraction, a classic wonderful ride , they love/loved. Disney has always re-imagined, refurbished, replaced, & added to their attractions. Heck, I still miss country bear jamboree & skyway but, I love several things that have come Change has always been a part of Disney history. Now, I personally will not be sad when genie + goes to join, things in Disneys past. Just for the simple fact, it takes away the best part of Disneyland, the interaction with your family, the cast, & the atmosphere because, everyone is on their phones all day. I wouldnt worry too much, I’m thinking, Disneyland has to have a water ride, it gets hot with all that asphalt in the park and EVERYONE wants to head for a water ride when we hit 90 + & even the corporate offices know that.

  12. Brittany

I think it should be noted that most of the issues with Splash Mountain have been at WDW not Disneyland in CA. I honestly think it has a lot to do with the difference in log design between the two parks.

  13. KJ

    Interesting.

  14. Teach for love

Please realize that these stories can be read as allegories. Enslaved people enjoyed the tales of Brer Rabbit outsmarting Brer Fox for a reason. However, anyone who doesn’t want to hear the stories from America’s most painful part of our shared history also has that right. It will be fun to see a new ride, too!

  15. Don

Splash Mountain as we used to know it is dying a slow death due to Chapek giving in to a few offended people.
