Scooters are out of control at Disney. Need to be banned, period.

That is a bit of an ableist attitude. Must be wonderful to be able bodied and judge those who are not. Sad

Anything can be a hazard. If they have a day of banning scooters/strollers they should also have a day where if you are on your phone and not watching where you are going you are obliged to formally apologize to anyone you run into. I have been stomped on and tromped on by jerks who cannot be bothered to look up from their screen but expect everyone to getvout of their way.

Except a scooter can do severe damage to someone hit by it. A person with a phone will at worst result in two people falling to the ground. A scooter has the potential to be fatal.

Ban them. End of story. If you can’t walk at all, we have wheelchairs.

          1. Tim

Actually, if you get knocked to the ground when colliding with someone you can actually die from a head injury.

          2. I would like to see you push a wheelchair around all day up and down these streets. And deal with inconsiderate people like you. I have had a scooter for 5 years and only hit 1 person when they ran in front of me and stoped

If you need a scooter because you can’t put down the cheesecake, which is the vast majority of people in them, then yes. I am ablest. We should not endorse or cater to that behavior.

So me losing my leg in the service is caused by overeating? Your mom must be proud.

    2. Lisa

so those of us who actually NEED the help because of a medical issue are not supposed to go to the park?

  2. Scott

We think there should be a set day of the week where scooters and strollers are not allowed. Just imagine ScooterStroller Free Wednesdays.

I don’t agree that they should be banned but everyone needs to be more cautious when they’re driving them. Our last trip in early September, my foot was run over by a scooter. No fractures but still not completely healed 7 weeks later and still have to use a walking boot.

    1. Pyley

I do agree but. People need to pay attention to. Get your face out of the phones, and watch the kids

    2. Lisa

I agree. I have to use a scooter due to a medical issue. I was almost run into be a lady who was driving a scooter out of control.

As someone who has had to use a scooter because of knee and feet issues not because of weight, I would like to set the record straight of how rude people not on them are. They don’t pay attention and constantly walk in front of you and stop short. As for backing up there is a buzzer so people should not be walking in back of you. It is extremely frustrating to have to use one. Be thankful all you people who are judging that you are able bodied.

    1. Tim

It goes both ways. I have seen my fair share of rude and dangerous scooter people in the parks. In general people need to relearn how to be polite and nice instead of the self-absorbed thinking that we have currently.

    2. Pyley

      Well said😎

I don’t mind the scooters. They serve their purpose for those that need them.

What I do Monday is the person that has never used one before. They are obvious to spot. They are the dangerous ones.

There should be some sort of drivers test before you can use one in the parks.

    1. Bobby

Do mind. Sorry for the typo.

Steve, your a ass for that comment, so your saying that people who legitimately have a disability and I don’t mean over wait but someone who has lost the use of their legs or severe back or hip problems should not be able to go to Disney world for enjoyment because they need a scooter, so here is the facts like others have said people need to pay attention get your nose out of your phone and people on scooters just need to be careful also, just like driving a care accidents are going to happen no if what’s or buts about.

Didn’t know a scooter pilot needed an insurance card. Do you need a handicapped placard to go with the insurance card?

I have to use a scooter and I went to Disneyland on POTC 50th, someone literally crawled over my back to cut through traffic in New Orleans Square. No excuse me nothing not that I could’ve moved due to the traffic of people.

I too have health issues and am NOT OVERWEIGHT…but used one the last time at Disneyland or I would not have been able to go. They do go faster than I think they should in a crowd as some seem to not know how to go slow..I have also been run over by people with strollers plowing through the crowd as they are bent on getting to another spot without being held up.. so it all comes down to not paying attention to where you’re going, people need to be less rude and think it’s all about them and phones now make it even more of an issue. Anything can be an issue but manners and patience is a must.

      Hear, hear.

And if it’s the same ‘Steve’ that posts on me multiple other articles, well, he’s a troll who can’t say anything nice about anyone or anything. He does it on purpose. Once I realized that I just try to ignore him.
