The log didn’t malfunction during the fall but once it got the the bottom where all the water splashed up. The title makes it seem like something happened during the fall.
Disney should keep Splash Mountain!! It’s based on the stories of Uncle Remus, that have Heritage in Africa and Mexico. Please sign the petition on change.org to keep Splash Mountain as it is in Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom!
Poor Victoria such a snowflake.. Can’t wait for your sweet, sweet magatard tears when your petition does nothing. While the stories do have some of the background you mentioned they were written by a white man. Not to mention if you really look at the movie Uncle Remus and others are acting like being a slave was good and living on the plantation as a sharecropper is the best. Who in the hell thinks being a slave is a good thing?
Tha Laughing Place was a traditional African Folktale that was passed down by oral stories. A white man may have adopted those centuries old tales into a written work, but as we all know there were no copyrights in the 1600s. Also, Uncle Remis has zero presence in the ride so that is not an argument to remove the theming.
The Uncle Remus museum in Georgia is not for the retheme. Disney is too woke to stop now. Wait lets start a campaign that Uncle Remus was a pedophile (oops I mean minor attracted person) and diddled little kids – that will make them change their mind to keep it!
They have destroyed the magic at Disney. It’s no longer a fun place for families. The prices are outrageous so most families can’t even afford to go. Also when they put in the genie it ruined everything. Along with having to make reservations to go into the parks.
I love love love splash mountain please could they just figure out the issue Like could They maybe just drain the water and find the problem don’t let this ride die
Amen Donna! It is no longer a happy place for families to enjoy! Walt would be rolling over in his grave right now over the corporate greed. Disney is now about the profit and IS a money grab from the middle class families who have to take a second mortgage on their homes to enjoy a vacation. I’ve been a huge Disney fan my entire life and all I can say right now is SHAME ON YOU DISNEY. Universal Studios has my money in the future. They have kept their parks about the original movies! I can’t believe ET is still an existing ride! That’s amazing! Disney isn’t about the movies any longer. It’s about the dollar profits and what sells.
The boats have to drain each rotation or they will take on water and sink. They are supposed to do that during the raised sections l. Disney isn’t unclogging the drain holes, or there are more holes than there are supposed to be and it takes on water faster than intended.
This was the Disneyland version which hasn’t had the issues like Disney World. It’s sad, but if Disney won’t maintain these attractions, just close it and start the rehab when ready.
Touche’ Oh my splash is in such bad shape (becuase we neglected it) and therefore we need to refurbish it – into a crap attraction. Done with Disney here until there is a radical change but not holding my breath
Except most of their fan base is pissed about the retheme and they are in damage control. They can’t cancel it without Twitter being mad and if they go through with I they will likely have to restore it in the coming years.
I hate that this guy has his phone out with the bright light on to record it. Likely for the whole ride. A bit disappointed the phone didn’t drown in the water at the end.
I’ve never seen this ride as anything but a child’s fun silly ride. It’s brought many years of enjoyment and my family would love it to stay but get a thorough overhaul. Please keep Splash Mountain!
They likely won’t be changing the track layout so why not create a virtual Splash Mountain, wear the goggles and ride the ride. It can be whatever ride you wish in that respect.
Every day I see negative comments about Disney; it’s too expensive, a ride broke, someone ignored dress code. Yes it’s expensive but you knew that before you went but compare it to other theme parks. They are all too expensive. Solution – don’t go. A ride broke or malfunctioned. Of course they malfunction. They are electronic for heavens sake. Do you know of ANY electronic that doesn’t malfunction especially ones that operate on a daily basis as much as those do. Don’t rides/attractions malfunction at other theme parks?? As far as dress code – it’s a FAMILY theme park and I don’t want my granddaughter seeing you breasts or your behind. Sadly it was said that some ignored the dress code just to get a free shirt to cover themselves yet Disney is in the wrong, SERIOUSLY!! Bottom line is, if it bothers you so much STAY HOME!!
I’ll definitely miss it, especially the song. Was one of my favorites since I was a toddler. Disney, STOP TOUCHING (CHANGING) ATTRACTIONS AND LEAVE THEM ALONG!
I’ve been to Disney in Florida a total of 3 times (twice as a teenager and once as a parent). I have absolutely no want to ever return. For the price of everything there including admission there is no reason they can’t properly keep the attractions maintenanced.
The story in splash mountain is now irrelevant and pretty much no one knows the story. Disney has completely removed rides in the past and I think retheming to another swamp ride will work just fine. Keeping something for the sake of nostalgia makes no sense when kids are much more familiar with the princess and the frog than a 1960s movie.

Exactly!! These articles are always doom and gloom!!

Let’s talk about other rides that are breaking down other then Splash Mountain. Fix the rides and leave Splash Mountain alone.

I watched it when I found it on youtube…I thought it was post Civil War when slavery had ended so all of them were former slaves.

Why don’t you just stay on degenerate Twitter where your kind belongs? You aren’t a real person, just an internet persona.

Perhaps the ride itself is protesting the ridiculously woke remodel they are planning.
John
100%! If the existing ride has enough issues and ppl will fully support the remodel just to make the maintenance issues stop.

If Universal keeps away from screens in their improvements, which sounds like their goal, they will demolish Disney.
Trisec
What’s the weight limit? If it keeps overflooding, that sounds more like a passenger malfunction to me. Put less people in it and at won’t happen.
Steve

Yeah, the change is kicking Bob Chapek out as CEO and needing back Bob Iger and/or Michael Eisner. They knew magic and what the people wanted.

These logs were made when the average weight of people was a lot lower. They probably cannot handle the strain of the continuous extra weight.
