Yes, some of their “International” dishes can be of questionable cultural origin:
I remember the “Scottish” Vegetable Haggis at the F&W–
Having never had the (ick!) real thing, I thought their pressed vegetable bake was rather good, but when I mentioned the dish to Anglophile friends…
I’m from the UK (and have spent a lot of time in various countries around the world over the years).
Given up with all the cuisine in the Rose & Crown – nothing in there remotely resembles UK food! As per the article, the cast members there apologise to UK visitors because it really doesn’t match expectations.
This applies to a lot of other pavilions as well – food in the Asian and European pavilions has definitely gone downhill over the last few years.
If you want to be offended go to Katsuri Grill in Japan (their counterservice.) Japanese food at a mall food court is better. Epcot seems to be pushing expensive, meh food at these festivals. You are better off focusing on snacks and desserts. Check the bloggers’ reviews. Mammoth club, all ears, disney food blog, and others review all the booths. Italy is infamous. Their booth is consistently disappointing. Italians everywhere should be offended.
If you go to Epcot thinking you will get authentic cuisine at any food stall then, that is your own fault. Instead of rushing into line just look at the items people leave the window with.
You have only yourself to blame
You are in a pretend fantasy kingdom populated by fatties and monsters. Everything around you is fake and you are expecting authenticity when it comes to the food? Just pretend it is real like you do the rest of your stay.
Disney keeps talking about how they are trying to remove objects, rides and characters that could be offensive to people, but then pull what is actually a slap in the face to the Chinese and Asian cultures. If you can’t or won’t make the dish correctly, don’t make it.
I was once asked to make a Honduran dinner as a fund raiser for one of our missions. Spent a few days research, etc. Brought the menu back to the group to review. They wanted to know where the burritos and enchiladas were. Told them, those food items are Mexican. Answer, “no one will know the difference, Mexican, Honduran, Guatemalan it’s all the same”
Told them”, if that’s what they want, they need to find someone else to do it “
I can vouch that Disney’s international foods aren’t accurate. At the British cart they were offering Haggis. (It’s more popular among Irish & Scottish though), but their ‘haggis’ was actually vegetarian. Haggis is the OPPOSITE of vegetarian. Sure, it has some grains mixed in. But it’s mostly meat. They’re getting worse at being authentic.
Just shut up. I’m so tired of all the whining about Disney. Just don’t go. Seriously, stop crying and do something else, let those who enjoy it keep enjoying it.
“Offensive”???? They’re noodles FFS…. Who are these emotionally weak, socially stunted, perpetually outraged, imbeciles???… Unfortunately the world today is full of these types. Most of them need a good ass kicking…and if you find that offensive, too damn bad.
Food & wine is known as a culinary standard.. it isn’t “classic” or “authentic” dishes.. its about whatever the chef creates. I just went a couple of weeks ago and had some great food.. and a couple of mediocre dishes as well. The drinks were always spot on! I also ate at Rose & Crown for dinner one night and enjoyed my meal. I still don’t understand the people who are complaining in these comments about “authentic” if I had to eat everything traditional all the time I wouldn’t enjoy eating as much.
Bah! People are complaining for the sake of complaining. The tapas sized dishes are generally tasty, excellently prepared, & a nice price point for what you get. Stop looking for reasons to be unhappy & enjoy the day for goodness’ sake.

Most malls have better international selections. But it is Disney so people are willing to spend 3x the price and eat standing up.

Authentic haggis is actually illegal in the US, so they may have cut their losses.
Same with authentic kinder eggs.

This is the crowd Disney wants. They can deal with offensive noodles now, I am saving my money.
Suegee
I’m more offended by $8.25 for a small plate of noodles.

Reddit is delicate af. They represent a very vocal minority. Probably a bunch of pretentious white people complaining about it, too.
Gassy Bubba
China and Japan kitchens at EPCOT are not run by Disney. They both are 3rd party.
Guilt by association at best.
