Good, it really needs it. While the projection mapping is neat and makes the beginning feel fresh. Many points after that disappoints. The insect part, rat projection and accompanying fog, and the boulder need some serious repair. The boulder is the most heartbreaking as it just ruins the illusion.
I call bs. They always say it’s going under a “huge referb” and yet here we are again 3 months later , you would think a multi billion dollar company could fix an attraction from the 90s .
Sure it is. This is literally the world’s largest theme park and entertainment engineering company. If they can’t get things done, they have no one to blame but themselves.
If there was ever a time when it’s gonna be scrutinized even more, it’s now that the last movie of the franchise is on its way. It would be downright disrespectful to Harrison Ford to have the ride in shambles as he says goodbye as Indy.
I haven’t been there since 2009, and it was perfect!! This ride is my family’s favorite ride. We rode it 6 times in a row one day when my kids were teens! No lines in April back in the day!!! So, I say, FIX whatever needs fixin’ to take this ride back to it’s GLORY!!!!
We were there in August just a few short weeks ago and it was broken. Our car stopped for minutes at a time in the dark with a 8 and 12 yr old. The ball illusion was broken. It was so disappointing compared to 1996 when it first was out.
I am a huge Indy fanand have been since Lar Crusade came out. Sadly, I have not been to Disneyland since 2014 and the ride definitely sounds like it needs some serious work.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye is filled with great concepts that will still hold up, provided they receive the right maintenance.
Nobody is going to disagree that Indiana Jones needs TLC (it just does), yet adjacent to it is the Adventureland Treehouse still surrounded by scaffolding for 6 months … Imagineers need to finish the Treehouse before they can work on Indiana Jones (just remember the man in charge named Bob is a bit of a penny pincher aka he’s not in a hurry to spend money).
I was there when this ride first opened. I’ve ridden it many many times since. I remember days when everything worked and it was just amazing. More often than not though, there were times when the snake wouldn’t move, the rat projection was missing, the stone ball was stagnant, even animatronic Indy was failing. We just rode it and surprised that it was really missing most of its elements. Most of the ride was completely dark, no special effects of the temple eyes, no spiders, no vigorous movements in dart scene and no darts! No movement of the serpent, ball stuck still, no comments from Indy, and to top it off the jeep just sat still for a good three minutes in the dark a couple of times, and at end of ride we sat for more like five minutes. Feel sad for first time riders to not see the full effects of this amazing attraction. Hopefully it can be restored to full glory. I even just commented to my group that on opening day there were cards given out that were meant to help you decipher the glyphs seen throughout the cue! Wish they had live characters in the cue like before that might do something like this again!
We went on the ride 1st thing when we got in the park. My wife hurt her knee because it was so jerky. Of course she didnt tell us till later in the day. She ended up with a torn achillies. I would say yes it needs work.
This ride seems to always be down. We have a dream key pass and have gone to Disneyland 20 days this year. Indiana Jones ride was either completely closed or temporarily closed on 16 of those days. The last time we went, we got on at rope drop and the ride stopped half way through. We had to wait 15 minutes until it started again. This ride needs to be closed down and/or fixed.
