I’m here right now and noticed the front was walled off. Well, if they’re using that high end turf with the multi colors then I guess it’ll be fine. I initially WAS thinking it’d be the super fake, florescent green crap. Thank god for that. As long as the planter itself remains. It’d be tragic if they ever got rid of that. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow how it turns out.

At Disney’s prices Mindy must have an annual pass

      1. Ken

Maybe a five day pass? Why does that make any difference to you? None ya…

      2. Ken

Why does that make any difference to you? Don’t be worried about things that don’t change your life.

          Some sassy comments
Ya, it’ll be that fake crap cause hey, it’s drought CA

        2. Sean

          Awfully judgmental aren’t you?🙄

            Great for water conservation!

        Great for water conservation!

    2. Kris

It’s the same fake grass they have outside Haunted Mansion 🤷‍♀️

  2. Chris Wood

If California is going green initiatives, why are the getting of real grass? I guess its cheaper for Disney to buy fake glass, that they don’t have to really take care of.

Presumably because it uses less water. Lawns are super water intensive and astroturf… well, isn’t. That and many parts of the country are experiencing a drought right now. That’s my hypothesis for why they made the decision, anyway.

If it’s as high quality as they say, I doubt most folks will notice without actually touching it.

      1. That’s right have you seen the Hoover Dam lately?

        1. Ken

Yep, dam is looking dam good. Water behind it, NOT so good.

      2. Lily

Until it starts flooding water when it rains as it won’t go down into soil as much especially on a hill like that and the glare from all the sun and that creating more heat and reflection to guests as they first walk in and most likely harming the flowers surrounding.

        1. Barbara

You are so right! I put grass back in because the artificial turf is hot. And, grass, trees and flowers are better for the environment.

    2. Ken

Drought conditions and also less need to pollute with gas mowers

  3. Charles

They use the same over at Mad Hatters Tea Party. It looks great. I thought it was real until I touched it. I always wondered how they kept it green and full under that tree.

Saving for water. Yeah while that should be the real reason I think NOT that’s a cute idea but
Disney is just getting cheaper and finding more money saving ways so Bob and stock holders can cash grab some more. SMH. Wake up Disney guests.

    1. Zara

      There a business “Maureen”

      1. Whitney

        “They’re*” 🙄

        1. Cindy

          1. Rteker

No it’s ’they’re’ as in they are

          2. Walt

They may be a business – but their business model is rape. pillage and detroy.

  5. golf sucks

every where in the west is running low on water. i say kill the golf courses they are one the biggest users/ wasters of water!!

    1. Mary Shearer

That’s because our super “woke” government in California pours most of our water out into the ocean!

      1. Ken

It does? I know San Diego has a desalination plant. I think there are SEVERAL other ones too. Or are ytalking about parents and children peeing in the ocean?

        1. Barbara

In Northern California they are releasing water into the ocean to protect the Delta Smelt. So much for no water for the people or the farmers!!

      2. Phoebe L Ho

Well why do golf courses need real grass? Why do they have to waste so much water?

  6. kokomo

My question is why? Is it a water-saving thing or a cost-cutting thing. Also, what about when it rains? Turf doesn’t absorb water like soil would, and its a slope. Best case scenario, that wall is wet. Worst? Flowers get too much or not enough water.

  7. Rteker

Ok it MAY sound like a good idea for now but, like as others are asking, what happens when the rain does come. A bad business day that’s what. This drought that the west coast is going through won’t last forever and when the dry spell ends and that rain hits, bring a snorkel folk as Disneyland is now a water park lol

    1. Sari

There was a drought in California that lasted 400 years.

  8. Kris

If not for these articles nobody would know. It’s already in other parts of the park. Read yesterday Haunted Mansion already has it outside. 🤷‍♀️

  9. Phoebe L Ho

I only wish they had thought of this years ago.

  10. Karen

Those of you worried about the rain, which doesn’t seem to be happening as much as it used to.
I am sure Disney has done great research and installed great drains so rain won’t be an issue. California is dying from the drought, I feel this is a great move on Disneyland’s part.

  11. I cant wait to visit Disneyland again to see the new turf! It looks fabulous in the pictures! Disneyland is my favorite place to go and I love that they are always making improvements for us to enjoy! Looking forward to going during the Holidays!!

Ouch! This page suddenly turned hostile and snarky. Ouch! I was taken by surprise. Ah? Would Walter Elias be pleased with such “fighting in the back seat”? Or? Would he turn the car around and go right back home? But! Hey! Let me not ne concerned about things that do not personally concern me. With world wife drought, I’m glad Walts Dream Park is conserving rather than consuming boat loads of water. It’s a great change, after all! Gregg Oreo

Subject way off course. This is a technicality, and let’s all remember what Disneyland is about. Leaving everyday worries behind and enjoy !!!
