It’s one thing that shows, and movies have tend to have inappropriate content, but it’s our responsibility as parents to make sure our kids to only watch programming that don’t interfere with the child’s development. Age is not the main source to determine what they can watch
Everyone complains that today’s kids are so sensitive, and then won’t allow them to learn to deal with stress and traumas. My kids grew up on those movies, and they don’t need a corner to cry in every time thing don’t go their way in life
These are big feelings Disney deals with. You know your child, you as their parent decide if they are ready to handle these feelings. These helicopter parents who bubble wrap their kids are and have raised an entitled a bunch of adults who think the world is fair and no one gets hurt or they can do what they want because they can.
If you dont want to discuss or have real life conversations with your kids dont watch. Its that easy. The rest of us will enjoy the solid life stories with ours and appreciate what Disney has given us.
I cried all the way to my highest school years every time Bambi’s mother was shot, and til until this day (I’m 67 yrs old) I let a big sight every time Lady and Tramp eat spaghetti. Pleeeeaaaaase!
it’s funny how some of you think we’re “too sensitive” maybe you think that because when you were a kid you didn’t have a safe outlet to vent to. the mental health field even 10 years ago is nothing compared to what it is now. i spent almost all of 2021 in and out of inpatients and eventually got sent to a residential for 6 months. we may seem “sensitive” but some of us actually learned how to express our feelings instead of bottling it up until we lash out at our kids and grandkids. i may only be 15 but i know for a fact this generation is stronger and more humane than any other generation. although i do agree a disney movie can’t traumatize you, but it can bring up memories that are traumatizing, therefore be triggering to watch.

My children actually lost their Dad 3 years ago. So there are a lot of Disney movies we can no longer watch…

Mmm
Maybe it’s a good introduction to talk to your children about loss. Talk about those big feelings.

Very well said! I couldn’t agree more. I grew up on these movies and I wasn’t traumatized by them. Kids today are too sensitive and cottled.

When my niece was a little girl, she would cry every time she watched the Little Mermaid.
Ursula scared her

I think this story is a little over the top! The little girl cried because Dora couldn’t find her family? Yawn
